The biggest 'WTF?!' is Dr Kafka.

At that moment, it really is Schumacher territory.

But at least they acknowledged that the comic version is female by giving him lipstick....

Well, we'll pick ourselves. I know I certainly usually don't pay attention to negativity, and focus on the positive, but then again, what sucks or is cheesy or lame for one person will be great to another, it also depends on the person you are.

Let's just chill here, no movie is universally liked or loved.

So, i guess, Spider-man isn't going to become Marvel's top dog any time soon. They had one chance with this movie and they blew it. :csad:

Exactly.

Again the movie never touches on him seeing himself as a freak when he becomes Electro or that there's no way out. On the contrary he says he is eager to find out just how powerful he really is.

But he didn't make an enemy of him. He just didn't like him. That's the difference.

You are making up things that are not even in the movie. Name one scene or line of dialogue where Electro views himself as a freak. Go ahead.

The Times Square scene is one of the worst scenes in the movie. Between the god awful music score, Electro's ridiculous over the top reaction to Spidey, and all that annoying slow motion stuff.

Agreed. It's at best a 6/10.

Alright so if ts electro didn't like him them why did he shock him or at least try to kill him at the same time? The time square scene was how he sees himself as a freak. He said he wanted everybody to like him as he sees himself scared and sad while he sees himself on screen. The scene itself wasnt even remotely bad or even god awful. It was a little flawed as you might say. There was actually nothing bad going on with this scene

Yes, but I don't like how this movie is getting such treatment in the forums. That and I'm really annoyed at discussing the time square fight

Agreed.

The weirdest thing is the tone - Max Dillon would never have fit into 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. Look at all the effort that movie makes to try and be toned-down and more realistic than the Raimi movies.

Then you get Max Dillon/Electro, who as many have said, wouldn't be out of place in a Schumacher Batman film.

Whilst the first movie wanted to be a Nolan-ish Spider-Man movie, Amazing 2 is definitely closer to the Raimi style.

A valid point. It's actually remarkable how much this film's tone is similar to that in Batman Forever. Forever really tried to have a serious core amidst all the cartoonish-ness with the exploration as to why Bruce is Batman and Two-Face killing Grayson's family surrounded by bright colours and over the top villains. With this it's not nearly as bad but the same basic problem still exists. The film is asking me to look at this as both a drama and a comedic action film which is not a very good mix because ultimately it fails to deliver on both aspects. What's left is this film that feels like it's trying to be far more intelligent than it actually is.

That was without doubt Schumacher-esque.

He was the movie's equivalent to this guy:

What are you talking about?

The time square scene was how he sees himself as a freak. He said he wanted everybody to like him as he sees himself scared and sad while he sees himself on screen.

Two things:

1. The Times Square scene showed him see people see him. "You see me". Nothing to do with being a freak. He liked it.

2. His whole never being noticed hang up had nothing to do with him seeing himself as a freak. He saw himself as a nobody.

The scene itself wasnt even remotely bad or even god awful. It was a little flawed as you might say. There was actually nothing bad going on with this scene

Apart from the impressive action and visuals, the scene was a flop.[blackout] I won't even get started on Electro being defeated and captured by a fire hose five minutes after meeting Spidey.[/blackout]

Why don't you wait to see the movie, then decide if it deserves such criticism.

Don't complain about reviews of something you haven't seen just because you don't like what they say.

I don't even remember Danny Glover being in the Schumacher films, lol.

As for Times Squared, I'm getting bored with cities being destroyed.

You are having fun with me are you? I don't mean as a nobody I meant as a freak as electro. He doesnt have to tell us in the scene that he's a freak it's obvious to him and to us that he is a freak. He first sees himself as a nobody but now he sees himself as even worse

glad to see i wasnt alone when i said it wasnt a great film. i do feel with this cast and webbs talents he could have made some amazing spider-man films sadly it seems something has always got in the way of that actually happening

what i am disappointed with is the reaction to anyone who didnt enjoy it, its only been on here once or twice but its growing and is rampant on other movie sites

person 1: it was an alright movie nothing special but i felt example a didnt work or example b was used right etc

person 2: *WRONG you're nothing but a fan stop your *****ing this movie rocks raimi sucks this is amazing film better than avengers and dark night. quit being ****ing fan boy

*all actual posts and comments i've seen

LOL yea tell me about it , i don't know why i visit places like imdb. To be honest when it comes to CBM its problay one of the worst sites to go to. Are you going to see it again Evil, maybe this film will grow on me but as others have mentioned the tonal shift in this film is kinda all over the place. I gave it a 7/10 after the 2nd showing it could go either way.

Look from the details I'll definitely be weirded out by Kafka, electro, goblin, and a few tones but I won't be entirely bothered by the movie as a whole.

No I'm not having fun with you. You keep saying he saw himself as a freak but not once does he ever give off that impression. Total opposite. He embraces what he is, sees himself a god like being, and christens himself with the name Electro.

Never does he act like he's a freak.

If you just want to enjoy it, you will be able to. It's not Catwoman we're talking about here.

Alright, anyone besides the joker, what's everyone's take on the time square scene?

Godzilla might have something to say to that :oldrazz: but seriously though it is becoming abit of a habit. Wait until Avengers 2 and BVS hit the fan.

The only part I think Peter is being inmature is (SPOILERS ABOUT GWEN) [BLACKOUT]when he follows Gwen around NY after they break up, pretty stalker like[/BLACKOUT]. The relationship with Gwen comes and goes in the movie, but Andrew and Emma are great. No other couple could be better in screen.

In general, I think the movie portrays the character of Peter pretty well. He's Spider-Man, but he also has this other Peter Parker stuff floating around that kills him, like his parents or his relationship with Gwen and Harry. It's not exactly like Spider-Man 2 though, it flows better.

Worst part by far is Dr. Kafka. I don't know who the **** thought that character would be a good idea, thank good he only shows up like 3 min total.

Electro could be developed better during the final battle (motivations pretty much... ehh), I liked Electro the rest of the movie and I think it has a the Max Dillon character is well developed (it's goofy at the beginning, but it improves).

Spidey is awesome, not only movement-wise, but personality too. No movie has captured Spidey better than this.

Harry Osborn, well, mainly because of Dehaan, is a good character. Much better than in the Raimi trilogy. It picks up trails of the Norman Osborn for the comics, but with much different motivations. As Green Goblin, I have no problem with it, he's like 10 min in screen time, but damn, what a 10 min. This is not like Venom that had a lackluster fight. Dehaan is a much better Goblin than Dafoe or Franco was in two films with a much limited screentime.

Rhino is in there. That's all I can say, pretty much. The looks are cool, the tie-in with the [BLACKOUT]Sinister 6[/BLACKOUT] is interesting. It works as a proof that Spidey has a universe of supervillains around him and that he doesn't need "the villain of the week" for a fight.

Aunt May is a little underdeveloped, she has a storyline that is tied up pretty fast in one particular scene, and apart from some scenes at the end [BLACKOUT]during NY's blackout[/BLACKOUT] she's not that much in it. She's a big important part at the epilogue of the film though.

Also (MAJOR SPOILERS) [BLACKOUT]Gwen's death couldn't be done better in film. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to surpass this scene. The whole theater was silent, a lot of the theater had a tear when blood comes out her nose, and specially when Peter hears Gwen's speech along with the flashbacks. The silent scene of Peter visiting the grave during the seasons is brutal[/BLACKOUT].

I loved the film, it's not perfect, but it's the best Spider-Man film by far for me. But it's okay, I get that it might not be what everyone was expecting it.

Nah, I doubt electro was freeze. Freeze was just some walking ice joke. At least from the spoilers they did try and make electro into a villain

Actually they are extremely similar. Decent man falls into pool of science stuff, gets powers, suffers some tragedy. Then he emerges hairless and blue, feels the world is against him, and fires streams of CGI at people while spouting silly lines like, "Time to catch a spider!"
