I have still been thinking a lot about the movie today and this is 2 days since I saw it now. After my initial reaction of nothingness I have really grown to like the movie and cant really get it out of my head. I personally think that is a good thing with any movie.

I will be going to see this again so I hope it improves on repeat viewings also.

At the same time, its disappointing to find out from Teekay that the Times Square and Goblin fights were shortened, both fights needed to be longer to have a bigger impact.

It's been on my mind too for a while as well mate! It's a weird film, it manages to keep itself in your mind!

It is a weird movie, I didnt feel much while watching it, but cant seem to get it out of my head. I think because the movie jumps about so much its hard to get a grasp on everything, but then you remember it all and start appreciating the movie more.

I will be watching it again to see if I enjoy it more.

I freaking love this movie and when I see any sequences on YouTube (for example Times Square) I get goose bumps.

When I here "Song for Zula", "Let her go", "Rest of my life", "I'm moving to England" and "Rooftop Kiss" (TASM) on my ipod on shuffle, I get a mix of happiness and sadness. Happiness at the fact we had some magical scenes in the past two movies and sadness we'll never get to see more! :(

Very powerful movie. Visually stunning, emotional rollercoaster.

Can I also add that the relationship and chemistry between Gwen and Peter is the best in superhero cinematic history and I include Reeve and Kidder.

Not once, when I sat in the cinema, was I thinking "God... get over with this **** already." There are TV/Movie romances that I can't stand (looking at you Arrow), and then there are romances, that I can't get enough of. Peter's and Gwen's romance was one of those.

Edit - I need to learn to read.

THAT just tells me you liked it Aveit lol

Ok just got back from seeing this finally and it really is a mixed bag of good, bad and indifferent. Overall I think its better than the last one, just, but there are some moments that threaten to really drag the whole thing down despite some of the great work it tries to do elsewhere. A quick summary of pro's and con's is probably better than a full blown review at this stage:

Pro's
- Gwen/Peter relationship, excellent chemistry and the way they work off each other, great dynamic thats going to be missed in AS3, they will need a very strong MJ.
- Andrew Garfield is great as Spiderman and as Peter, really owns the roll and character.
- Looks good with some great visual effects and 3D was decent too, looks like a comic book come to life in that respect.
-
Gwens death
is done really well.

Cons
- Over long, not enough quality for a 2 and half hour film, some bits really needed removing Rhino, Plane sequence etc or trimming.
- Some of the acting was just too OTT compared to the rest of the film. Rhino, Dr Kafka and Max before the turn seemed like they were acting in a different movie and was at odds with the rest of the movie. I can see where some of the Batman&Robin comparisons come in here.
- Repeating the same scene multiple times, we see Spiderman save people in front of a moving vehicle 4 times in the same slo-mo style, it was slight overkill.
- Too many ideas squeezed into one film, Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino origin all in one meant none of them really had any impact or chance to breath.

Yeah so overall it was decent with out being "amazing" and could have easily been made better simply with some bits cut out or trimmed to help the film flow better. I liked it more than the first but slightly dissapointed it wasnt the massive improvement I has hoped for.

7/10

Can't disagree with any of your cons but the pros (which I also agree with) outweighed the cons.

For my taste, I'll bet I'd want a lot of the trimming that has been done to the movie back in. That includes all the stuff from the trailer that was snipped out, the extended battles, etc. However, the film has been criticized by many for being too long already. Another complaint is that it focuses too much on Peter and Gwen's relationship (that's not a problem for me, it's one of the most important aspects of Webb's film series for me).

So it's a tough job for them I think, juggling all the elements and cutting down the film to a running time that audiences will accept. I'd personally take the 3 hour version with all the goodies but that's just me. :yay:

Yeah they did just about for me, its just a shame there were so many little things like that held the overall film back for me, but if you really liked the first one then I am sure you will be happy with this one.

I think Emma and Andrew just about carried this movie though and its going to be interesting to see how they cope without that dynamic in the third film. The casting of MJ is going to be crucial I feel.

It's personal taste but performances and character will always trump plot and pacing it's why I stuck with Lost till the end and why I like ASM2 more than Winter Solider even though WS is clearly better paced with a stronger narrative.

Sony seems to be following the plan of Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” movie series, with “Amazing Spider-Man 2″ being “The Dark Knight” of the series. Except Sony doesn’t seem to have a clear end in sight for their own flagship franchise. Which may or may not be a good thing. If they keep up the momentum that “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ does, we might be in store for a very complete reboot with a clear cut satisfying evolution of its titular hero. The writers and producers focus very heavily on correcting former director Sam Raimi’s mistakes, and they have pulled it off well. Granted this follow up to the 2012 reboot isn’t perfect, but it’s better than its Raimi predecessor.

Director Marc Webb places great emphases on Spider-Man’s powers and ingenuity, slowing down most of the fight scenes and action set pieces to show how Spidey is always thinking, even when he’s fleeing from a deadly menace like Electro. Andrew Garfield gives Peter a very welcome empathy and humanity that perfectly transforms him in to a long suffering superhero who is thankfully never a sad sack. His life is filled with ghosts, and he has no choice but to put on the mask and keep fighting the good fight. Dane DeHaan is also fantastic as Harry Osborne, a very slimy but complex villain whose life parallels Peter’s own, except with an obsession on his own father that becomes the bane of his existence. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ is a huge step up from the first film, and makes very admirable headway in advancing on and expanding Spider-Man’s mythology, while widening the scope of the series gradually. It’s a very good follow-up in what is probably the best cinematic version of the web head to date.

Felix Vasquez Jr. Via Cinema Crazed, a rave review by a RT critic, the score is up to 72% right now. :woot:

I don't understand why people felt the Rhino should be taken out. The speech Gwen gave and Peter having not been Spiderman for 5 months while crime was increasing was a perfect time to introduce him IMO.
