The Art of Civility Revisited

great thread idea:up: the biggest problem here is force feeding of views
Some just can;t accept that someone See's an aspect of the movie in a different way to them and suddenly they are no longer discussing the point they are calling the other Poster names b/c they won't agree with them

I just used it to inform the mods about The Official Green Lantern Casting Thread. It's been deleted, btw. So, the report post button actually works.

That's fantastic. Does that mean you are 1 for 1?

That IS the biggest problem. We should all be able to look at the production of Returns and comment on it whichever way we please. The problem is that some of the posters that are positive about production aren't accepting a snippit of negativity. The problem is that those who are negative about one aspect might be positive about another. Most of us don't take the time to find out and jump on them.

My favorite is when a Mod just makes an appearance in the thread. They haven't addressed the issue that is brewing, but they just pop in and respond to somebody to get it back on topic. I like that style, usually the thread gets on course without a hitch, I called it, "The Hit and Run Method".

oh trust me, that works very well too :D, but for the kinds of members of these forums it needs a bit of a closer watch ;)

besides, who says a Mod has to post under their own nick ;), all thats really improtant is to flood the boards with the right kind of posts (meaning the tone) and usually everything else falls in line.

Well hopefully the banning of this sections biggest problem will solve some of the jumping
Guys like Cine just can't help their enthusiasm and never make it personal and i don't mind points being defended if we stick to the points

one of the big problems of these boards also is that many cant agree to disagree. its always "take no prisoners" mode. that's never gonna work, specially in a message board where 98% of the posts are opinions. i've seen threads where it was pages after pages of two people arguing and refuting every single sentence the other posted and it would just bog the thread down. they certainly know what they're talking about, its just that they wont agree that they have two differing POVs and that they should just leave it at that.

That's how I feel about Cinnamon as well. I think he is very excited about the movie, but I still think he shouldn't try to force his opinion. I told him my thoughts on that.

That is a good point. Why can't we agree to disagree at some point. I have seen some of the "Big Boys" do it on many occasions, Fatboy, OldGuy and others.

I don't think this problem will ever really go away.

I was refering to those posters who go back and forth and tend to rip on each other for a bit before coming to an agreement. You don't fit that category you are in a class by yourself.

I used them because they can flame on while providing intelligent points and stitching witty remarks, but can also say, ok we will disagree. I rarely if ever see you flame anybody.

:O I feel like I am 20 years older than I am sometimes. Must be the rain that is pelting the east coast.

I am suprised I haven't opened up a tirade on the boards. I hate rain.

I wonder whether it's my age that made Routh a hard sell for me,last time we had a superman i was a kid so he was a man to me,it's odd having supes and Lois younger than i am

I just read through this whole thread...its like a Seinfeld of threads. Lots of discussion about nothing in particular.
