I thought the Roman pantheon was still quite diverse at that point.
The thing about religion back then was the ruler pretty much decided what the supreme being was. And the town you were in could decide what the main deity was too. If you lived in a rural area you would sacrifice to the god in charge of crops more than the rest. Constantine was a sun worshiper and remained so until he was baptised on his deathbed.
