Hate to see what he thinks about minecraft then.

Lucky Part 7!

I used to play with angry looking lego as a child. Maybe that's what turned me into an atheist.

Lego is a tool of Satan

And yet - http://pasajeros.en.transito.over-b...ick-testament-la-biblia-en-lego-78570129.html

Stuff like this is a sure sign of ignorance in a person.http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...s-9228389.html

Saudi Arabian royal decree declares atheism as an act of terrorism. The irony is strong with this one.
Saudi Arabia declares all atheists are terrorists in new law to crack down on political dissidents

This is why some religious people and any one extreme religion in power making govt. laws terrifies me.

Equally any govt. that would ban religion terrifies me too.

The great foresight of the founding (genocide of the native population and slavery aside) fathers of this country , to allow the freedom and separate the two, ...genius!

There was a big hooplah last year when a woman implied that she DIDN'T thank God for surviving a tornado when prompted by a news interviewer.
I remember that, it was Wolf Blitzer saying - you got to thank the lord - just assuming she was religious.
And she's like no, not a believer.
Meanwhile they're standing in a pile of ruble that was her home, how come nobody is ever like - you got to blame the lord?

I mean if this super being is the end all be all it's also the one that caused the homes to be destroyed and allowed all the other people to die terrified in it's hurricane! Right?

How do they separate the two? Just ignore all the the death caused in the same event, and only want to acknowledge the good part of it's supposed "work".

Also there were probably some believers going - hmmm she's an atheist? That's probably why her house was destroyed.

I also remember the Pilot Sully of the supposed "miracle" on the Hudson.
Who labeled it a "miracle"? The media?
Dude lands the plane totally due to years of training, his quick thinking, pragmatic decisions, and nerves of steel.
Then the interviewer asks did you pray? Dude was like I was to busy flying the plane.
I have no idea if he's religious, but he says - my focus was on the landing, I though of nothing else.
That is what saved them. Not praying for a miracle, his focus on the actual task at hand.
The interviewer probably wanted to feed into religious fervor of god and prayer landed that plane, really did it also send the flock of birds flying into the engines?

I've said this before, but I always find there to be something rather offensive about thanking God in light of surviving a disaster, when you're surrounded by dead people.

Muslim Student Journalist Noor Tagouri Harassed While Covering a Mosque Hearing in Murfreesboro, TN

For some context, the hearing was about whether the Mosque was allowed to have a graveyard. Ya know, like damn near every Christian Church has. Watch this brave girl stand up to these asshats.

[YT]2yvIWoJfKsE[/YT]

If I lived near that town I'd be all up in someone's face for this ****.

Lou Ann Zelenik the congress woman tells Noor at the end of the video she doesn't understand why Muslims don't want to be treated equally after harassing the girl for being Muslim... I almost can't do anything but pity these people. To be this ignorant and close minded is more tragic than infuriating.

More info about Congresswoman Zelenik:

Zelenik, executive director at the Tennessee Freedom Coalition, has not been shy to voice her opinion of Islam, saying in 2012 that "“I will work to stop the Islamination of our society, and do everything possible to prevent Sharia law from circumventing our laws and our Constitution." The Tennessee Freedom Coalition was put on a list of domestic hate groups by a U.S. Army member in 2013, according to Fox News.

Don't y'all just love how she uses the word "freedom" in the name of her hate group. Freedom for all...as long as you are Christian.

Why don't you want to be treated equal? All you have to do is have the same skin color, worship the same god, act the same, love the opposite gender and be born in the country then you'll be equal... unless you do something else that makes you unequal.

Also, 'Islamination of our society'? Is that just the fact that it's diversity and different? For ****s sake isn't that what the country was founded upon? The fact that they encouraged a massive amount of immigrants from all cultures? Goddam idiots can't even get their own history right.

I just hope that in my lifetime this kind of **** gets shamed out of society. I want people of differing faiths to keep fighting this kind of ignorance. Not violently, but fighting it as civilly and legally as possible. And I hope it irritates the white bigots until the day they die. Personally, regarding my local area, I'd love to see other religions practiced openly. As it is now I can't throw a quarter without hitting a Baptist church. I have to drive an hour and a half to reach my nearest synagogue. A mosque is nowhere to be found.

There's a large number of churches in my city and recently there's been several of them that have been closed down and either sold or demolished as people in my city just aren't going to church that much anymore. Sometimes when I'm going around town on the weekend I go by a church when it lets out and I see almost exclusively older people and very very few younger people at all. As for a synagogue turns out there's only three or so in the province and around seven mosques. There's at least twenty churches in my town alone, including five within throwing distance from each other down town.

I'm fine with religion but I have no interest in helping or supporting anyone who is willing to treat others like crap just because they're different. They really need to start having religion and politics become separated as it's only hurting everyone.

It makes me crazy when people act like Sharia law and "Islamization" is a real threat. We have the Establishment clause in the Constitution. The establishment of ANY religion as the official of the USA is impossible.

But the people that live in terror of Sharia are the very same that want the Gospel to be the official way of life.

But it's the 'WORD OF GAWD!' and not that 'heathen' book! :whatever:

I've said this before, but I always find there to be something rather offensive about thanking God in light of surviving a disaster, when you're surrounded by dead people.

Exactly. That and the offensive notion for the human potential, that we can't be capable of doing good deeds if we don't worship him or associate ourselves with a religion.

I just can't wrap my mind around those people who insist that we didn't evolve from apes. I mean just besides the obvious physical similarities and fossil records, how is it such a terrible thing that we did all of this ourselves? That we forced the world around us to change and that we made ourselves what we are? We brought ourselves out of the trees, we made agriculture, we made the pyramids, we made civilization! What's to be ashamed about, that we didn't have some sort of god pushing us along and telling us everything.

We were engineered by space jockeys :o
No seriously, I don't believe in the divine creator but neither in the evolution from apes.

Well if you have the belief in God and humanity's special place in his creation instilled in you from a very young age and then find out we evolved from apes your God fearing mind would feel like it is insulting or rejecting God or something of that nature which would make you fight the idea of evolution. Least that's what I've encountered in my local Baptists. They find the idea that we evolved from apes to be an insult to not only themselves but God and a slap in the face to him.

Then there is the idea that if we say we did it without God that we are being arrogant and showing a lot of hubris. Fundamentalists and Baptists and other Christian groups believe nothing, and I do mean nothing, is possible unless God wills it or allows it or helps. Even mundane tasks are accomplished through the help of God. Even our skills and talents are gifts of God. That's why you'll hear "God willing." said literally in the Bible Belt. Or "Nothing is possible without God." Or "Use the gifts God has given you."

Evolution just removes God from the equation entirely for these people. Plus, when you think about it if Evolution is true (it is) then there was no Adam and eve. Which means there was no Original Sin. Which negates the need for Jesus to die for our sins. Which means the New Testament is largely B.S.. Which essentially causes Christianity as a belief system to fall apart.

I believe in God, but not Original Sin which is why I don't worship Jesus as a god and can accept scientific facts like evolution without having a theological crisis. For others who believe in God and Original Sin this just isn't the case and their brain glitches when they try to reconcile all these ideas. For them it's a square peg in a round hole so they cling to the beliefs they've had since childhood because it makes them feel safe.

Do you actually believe that or are you just on the fence for what you believe?

Actually, I don't hold a definite belief for our evolution or how we came to be...I can't be possibly certain about it. Maybe we were engineered from a highly advanced civilisation either by accident or with a purpose. That, or we simply started out as humans, just like the other beings nature created, but we did not nececarily evolved from apes. Those are what I am inclining more.

The evidence is OVERWHELMING, and pretty much incontrovertible at this point that we are as expressed in percentage points, and on a genetic level, not all the different than our cousin the chimpanzee. This is not wishful thinking, but merely the acceptance of the truth that the evidence leads us too. Being engineered by a supposed "higher alien civilization" is the height of fantasy at this point. There is not a shred of evidence that it is so. And in my life, experience has taught me that believing in things that are not so ultimately never yields anything good. (Do not mistake this for a world view wherein I believe that pure rationality is the only way fro humans to live. But neither do I ignore the scientifically established model of the world because it makes a better story to do so. )

Maybe I'm misreading this (I haven't put my contacts in), but are you suggesting that non-human creatures just fell out of the sky in their current form?

How exactly do you explain homo erectus and homo sapiens neanderthalensis? Is it really credible that we have an origin entirely separate from species that were practically identical to us?

Yeah, something along those lines. I just don't blindly follow the readings of the established scientific community. There have been numerous times in the past where scientific dogma were overthrown by newer and more radical researches. Maybe we haven't figured out all the answers yet and we are basing our knowledge on guesses. Again, I am not saying that's exactly the case of our evolution. I am just keeping my mind open to the possibilities.
