This is a highly onsided thread in favor of Avengers. Which since its release has been well on its way to becoming a cult classic. Not to say that JL doesnt have the potential as well. As BvS yielded the same effect of seeming strangely better with age(at least imo). JL however doesn't seem to have the same charm, in comparison to BvS and especially not in comparison to Avengers.

No offense, but the existence of this thread is hilarious.

Everything about The Avengers, from the planning right down to the execution, is better than Justice League. Justice League is a perfect example of how not to make a movie. It's cynical, corporate schlock at its worst.

Well that and a studio exploiting a terribly sad set of circumstances.

Eh, I don't think there's anything about the JL that intrinsically makes them harder to adapt. I mean, okay, superspeed invites some plot logic issues, but you just deal with that by not making the Flash quite so insane, and not giving full blown relativistic superspeed to half the roster. Its otherwise a team of people with different powers, specialties, and personalities. Lots of material to work with.

Assuming, of course, you don't deliberately stab yourself in the eye by doing something stupid. Like, say, making one member more powerful than the entire rest of the team combined.

But according to the poll results, 7 people have voted for Justice League. Why? I really want to know.

A more interesting poll would be Justice League vs Age Of Ultron, given that the two are far more equal in terms of quality.

That's either a disservice to AOU or really raising up JL.

Personally I think it'd be JL vs. Apocalypse.

JL is more comparable to Apocalypse really. Age of Ultron is in another league imo.

Yeah I find it hard to believe JL even comes close to AoU, let alone the first Avengers.

Or even The First Avenger.

JL was a fun but flawed movie. I still rate it above GotG Vol. 2 among CBMs this year but then again, I really enjoyed all of those movies this year. :)

For the poll, Avengers by the greatest imaginable distance.

Eh. Ultron still wins, but at least you can make an argument for comparability.

As I was watching the end credits of JL, I wondered what movie I would compare it to. Apocalypse leapt straight to mind immediately.

You just need people who are able to depict the characters powers and skills well enough even if some of those things cross over. JL didn’t do that. Others can and have in the past.

See, here's the thing, I don't think it's easy for film writers to adapt things like this. When you've got characters who possess similar skill sets it becomes harder to figure out what to do with each of them. If they're all bringing something unique to the table then it offers you a world of possibilities. JL's inherent problem, even if you were to include Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter, is there's too much cross over of abilities. Too many characters who are over powered. Marvel characters's aren't nearly as overpowered, even Thor and Hulk have limits as to what they can do. How do you craft a decent story around a team of characters who have few weaknesses?

Well, then they just have to be creative enough to do it. If not, let someone else handle the job. I really don't see how a crossover of powers is an issue. And if one feels they're overpowered then have them fight something in which that type of power is needed and can challenge them.

I am as a big a DCEU die hard as there is and even I thought Avengers was better - because the studio took the JL film and tried to make it into something it wasn't.

If they're overpowered, power them down. Worked fine for DCAU.

I'm really wondering if some people here have actually read a JL comic or watched a JL/JLU episode before.

Some of you guys are really questioning the concept of JL due to a crappy film, a film made by guys who've already shown us they don't have a proper handle on these characters to begin with.

It's like that one meme floating around with Superman being the JL at 99.90% of power and then with the rest it's 100%. That's what it felt like with the film and that's just a good example of bad writing.

'No lanterns... No krytonians...
Wait what! There is a kryptonian?!..
Oh Come on!! :\ '

I'm one of the few that prefers Ultron to the first film, so for me it handily beats JL. But Apocalypse is out and out garbage, with the score being its only redeeming quality. At least some of JL is entertaining.

Why though?

I much prefer the characters of the DC universe to the Marvel Universe and my level of feeling of warmth and joy was far more from JL than it was for The Avengers, because of that love of the characters.

That's fair.
