With those anouncements that there would be a Justice League movie by 2013 and with fan speculation that it may introduce the characters to later use them in stand alone movies, the oposite thing of what Marvel is doing, i wonder if The Avengers wouldn't have been better suited to introduce characters than the Justice League movie.
I'm glad Marvel decided to introduce stand alone films first but the Justice League are better suited for being introduced in stand alone films, BAtman and superman are that big.
The Avengers characters weren't that big, and in the Ultimate Marvel Universe they introduced them as a team in the great The Ultimates mini-series.
That story seemed like a summer blockbuster movie and it was able to introduce them properly, DC should introduce characters in their oun movies like marvel instead of making a Justice League so soon.
In the end i'm prefering Marvel's aproach but DC needs that aproach more than them.

I feel Marvel's way is better.According to what I've seen the JLA movie would have no connection to the Nolan Batman trilogy or the upcoming Man of Steel movie. This will A.confuse audiences and B.kill their interest since it isn't the characters they've been watching the last few years.

When did this happen?

I think Marvel's is a better way of doing it, especially for building excitement. Introducing the characters individually with the promise of seeing them all come together builds much more anticipation than having them all together, then getting solo films.

Also, doing the individual films before the group films lets them flesh out the characters origins, so they don't have to worry about it come the big group film. DC's JLA movie will have to spend time explaining the lesser known members of the team to the public, which is pretty much everyone except Batman and Superman. The Avengers film will be able to jump right in, with perhaps the exception of Hawkeye, because we can assume most members of The Avengers audience have seen the previous Marvel films.

Marvel is doing a great job with the Avengers proyect, and it's quite better that way, because audience will be familiarized with the characters by when the movie comes out.

I like DC more, and i'm worried WB will rush things to a Justice League just so they can compete with Marvel's Avengers instead of sitting back, keep going with current, individual movies, and taking note on what worked and didn't for Marvel's. Then, start building a DC, interconnected movieverse in a more thrilling way and finalize with a JL movie that would equal, if not top the competition in quality.

Marvel was also lucky not to have licensed out any of their Avengers-related characters to other studios before Marvel Studios was established. It was easy enough for them to get the rights back from Universal for Hulk, but for instance, there was a time when Iron Man was in major development at New Line Cinema, and still was even after Time-Warner bought New Line. Marvel's been fortunate to have all those characters in-house. They established Marvel Studios for this exact purpose, and given the level of quality control between films, there's a better chance of them pulling it off.

Warner Bros. problem is that as a studio, they aren't thinking about it the way Marvel is. You can have your DC Entertainment, and TRY to do things how Marvel is doing them, but it's not going to work if there's a clear divide between the studio and the people from DC you're trying to bring in to the films. And yeah, you've already screwed the pooch by rebooting two major characters from the Justice League and creating two whole worlds where these characters just could not exist. There's no fitting Singer's (by way of Richard Donner) Superman into a world that includes Nolan's Batman, and vice versa. And if they want to do anything that could lead to a Justice League film, it's going to have to follow whatever they do for Man of Steel.

Warner Bros. has only proven it can feature all of its superheroes together in cartoons.

Watchmen is living testament that a JLA movie could work and look great.

Really? What's their story that's equivalent to the "The Watchmen"?

But Watchmen is Vertigo.

I don't know why WB can't pull a DC movie other than Superman and Batman. They failed with Catwoman and Green Lantern.

I'd love to see a Justice League film, however I think to work you would have to do like Marvel have done with the Avengers, and introduce the main characters to the broader movie going public first, in their own films.

I predict Justice League will be awful. It just doesnt work... it barely does in the comics hehe

I think if WB is doing a JLA movie without introducing other "lesser" characters like Marvel has done with their Marvel Studios movies, and expecting the GA to just accept quick introduction of Flash, WW, and other JLA members just because they have had some public recognition, they'll be in for a rude awakening. In addition, if they have a Superman in JLA that isn't associated with the Superman from SR and MOS, it'll create even more confusion. WB can say that they're targeting 2013 for the JLA movie, but so far we haven't any real news about it, so I don't think it will be done within 2 years.

C'mon guys, give the GA (Kids and Adults) MORE CREDIT.

They will not get confused if the JL Superman and Batman is not the same as the new Nolan's Superman and Batman films.

The DC Animated Feature Films are all different universes and yet they all sell like hot cakes.

The GA will watch along with the die hard fans for Superman and Batman alone.

Add GL and the first female superhero Wonder Woman along with other recognizable superheroes like the Flash.....This movie will be a BLOCKBUSTER HIT!!

It will not fail like GL did.

Superman and Batman alone can guarantee that.

Not to try and start a argument but I irks me when they want to tie "The Dark Knight" to a Justice League movie. The Frank Miller version of Batman is on its own island. Which is what The Dark Knight is. But is does tick me off that The Man of Steel character will not be in the movie

JL could work as a stand-alone movie, if allowed to run long enough introducing the characters not yet seen in movies to audiences. But, assuming WB is a run-time Nazi like most studios...

What WB should have done was similar to how JL the cartoon came about. First, find an opportunity to do a Superman/Batman movie. The characters have been in films for quite a few years, and this would get their working together out of the way. Then, do a JL movie where a crisis forces them to recruit other heroes they've heard about. Then you have a brief recruitment sequence where we get to see a little of what the hero is all about. Throughout the movie, you can add little bits of dialogue that gives more info to their background or what have you without it being an info dump.

but would need to do a stand alone superman and batman movie then the team up so you could build up for everything. you have to make a world that they all live in.

I wouldn't mind a Justice League film without Superman and Batman.

And why you ask? *pretends people actually asked*

Because the only movies that will seem worthwhile to watch are Batman and Superman films, so let us see how well Green Lantern can be in a JL film to jumpstart that series as well as Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman
