The Batman General News & Discussion Thread - Part 2

I was about to say, yup, DVD Dizzy is not certified on RT.

Which makes breaking the embargo make sense, will drive traffic to his site and make this the only time anyone will actually talk about the site.

what qualifies a writer to have a review posted on RT as critic?
The writer or website in question needs to go through the RT certification board to become certified, which includes them in the website's aggregate ratings.

Read the review and I hate to say it but it is fair. I lowered my expectations big time a while ago. I live in Los Angeles, and one of my buddies saw a test screening last Fall. He is also a bigtime Batman fan and told me he was extremely underwhelmed with what he saw. Granted, this was before the final edits were made so a lot of scenes had stuff like a "[x] effects to be incorporated" in it... his criticisms were very similar to what this review has, which makes me sad because I didn't want to believe my friend :(

I'm not understanding the comparison to the Capitol insurrection in that review at all. The Batman wrapped principal photography on 3/13/21, with the insurrection happening only 2 months before.

Given the timeframe of the shoot and the overall scope and scale of this project, there's no way Reeves was specifically drawing on that event when he wrote the script, as it would have been finished well before then. Even if they decided to do rewrites on the day, the amount of effort and manpower it would take to fundamentally alter that subplot to reflect a real-world event that occurred only 2 months ago would be extremely unrealistic to pull off under the tight restrictions and scheduling of a major motion picture.

The rest of the review holds water as a subjective opinion, of course, and maybe the movie will end up being disappointing, but I can't reconcile that element or the "cringey" real-world relevance.

I've no doubt this film will kick serious bat-a$$, BUT...I don't see why that 2.5/5 review wouldn't be considered fair or acceptable.

It's likely touching on some stuff that many may agree upon.

This film, for better or worse, likely isn't 'for everyone'..

And in today's homogenized MCU comic book film world - I personally welcome that.

But I get why others may not.

It would be pretty funny If this turns out to be terrible and Morbius is the highest rated CBM of the year.

It’s a clickbait review with no substantive criticism and unbearable amount of snark masquerading as wit. Pay no attention.
No legitimate critic would spend half of their review wading into the history of the DCEU and lamenting Affleck's missed opportunity to do a Batman film. As you said, it reads as complete clickbait meant to stoke the Reeves/Snyder/Nolan fan wars.

I literally read the first half of the review and just stopped. It's worthless.

The only way i'll look forward to Morbius more than The Batman if Leto had a stereotypical Italian accent in it.

No it’s not. Wasn’t even half way through and it stunk of someone trying to just be edgy just to be edgy. Comparing Pattinson hair styles to emo Peter. Probably by a Snyder fanboy. It def stinks of that to. They are really annoying

At least this one is more generous than half a degree out of 10.
