The Batman General News & Discussion Thread - Part 2

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Mister Miracle, Superman: Up in the Sky and Omega Men are all masterpieces, imo. Some of the best comics I’ve ever read. His Batman stuff was hit and miss but it had some great parts. LOVED “Cold Days” and the “Superfriends” stories. I think he’s just better with singular, self-contained stories than ongoing runs. He’s definitely a massive talent, though, imo.

Up in the Sky is also very, very good. I just read that one the other day. But yeah, the more "limited series" stuff does seem to work best for him. A 6-8 run series or so. I also hear Vision is really good.

What I'm saying though is that Gunn should be equally invested in the success of all of these projects, otherwise I don't think he's doing his job right.

He more or less said this himself just yesterday.

It's nonsensical to create an "Elseworlds" brand specifically for projects like The Batman (movies & spin-offs included), only to cut it off at the knees. Barring poor reviews or financial performance, it seems like its here to stay imo.

Well, a lot of us had our holes puckered in preparation because it's not like WB isn't a constant flex of nonsensical, as of the last decade.

Someone needs to start a database of all these online scoop-chasers and catalog all the **** they’ve gotten right vs. all the **** they’ve gotten wrong, so I can know who to bother paying attention to.

If they do Two-Face I hope they actually do the split personality thing this time around.

i do not see Matt Reeves writing an ableist interpretation of Harvey lmfao. what are you on about

I mean, just doing Two-Face at all you’re going to have people *****ing about ablism on account of the deformity.

Might as well go all in.

Honestly if you wanna go all in for a tragic and mentally ill Two-Face? DID isn't the way to go imo, that's just not how the disorder works in terms of alters. If anything, a descent into paranoid schizophrenia (if done right and respectfully, I want to be very clear on that) actually would work a lot better. Symptoms typically start in your mid 20s, which would explain how Harvey could live this normal life attaining his education and overall status as District Attorney prior to him becoming Two-Face. And "big bad Harv", rather than being Harvey's alter, is the manifestation of audible hallucinations, along with the other common symptoms of schizophrenia. If done right, my God it'd be something else.

Wonder if they'll try to push from October 2025 up to spring 2025... since the first was covid-delayed twice.

Maybe try to get in just a little more space ahead of DCU roll-out.

All of course, if Reeves' pre-production process is going smoother than he'd thought.

Even with his meticulous (and lovely) process.
