I don't think anybody outside of select fans would want Phoenix in as Joker. A new Joker would give WB a new Joker to milk (every incarnation has been popular in their own right, even Leto's), Phoenix/Phillips have made it overly clear that their Joker isn't meant for a franchise and it would go against the whole vibe they fought tooth and nail to establish (obvs :whatever:), and Reeves would definitely want his own Joker to create, not a shoe-horned in version that he has zero input on

I mean, all that + logistically it makes no sense. (again, feels like "Jason Todd = Joker" again lol) but i guess it can be fun imagining "what if"

The new season of The Eric Andre Show looks amazing.

From Reddit, this is a set pic right? Or is it from Joker?

We've had three Gotham set movies in the past ten years that used Gotham Transit Authority during filming. Actually had to google set photos from TDKR, BvS, and Joker to see if that logo was from one of those or The Batman.

I will be in awe of the size of Warners balls if they do an R-Rated Batman film.

I feel they wouldn't want to lose parents taking their kids, but an R-Rated Batman would still make a ton of bank regardless. And I think it's much more likely now though with the success of Deadpool, Logan and ofcourse Joker.

And it's not like the last two iterations of Batman movies were kid friendly anyway.

Well, they made one already, just didn't release it theatrically.

What is it? EDIT: Oh, yeah. BVS Ultimate, right?

Either way, I'm open to an R-rated Batman movie if the story demands it. If WB went for it, I'll consider thanking Joker for that.

They can bank so easily on this...just release a 13-rated cut for the family's and an R-rated for the rest of us. Maybe people will even double dip.

I’m going to get ripped for this, but I would be ticked if this ends up being R rated. With the stuff that we have seen or heard of so far such as “blood soaked extras” or
taped head dead body guy
I already am nervous. But my youngest son is going to be the age that I was when 89 came out when Reeve’s film comes out. He is over the moon for this film and dreams of going to see it with me. This child’s room, even his wardrobe, is a shrine to Batman. It would royally suck if they Up the violence just for violence’s sake.

Not that I think it’s happening, but I don’t see the need for this movie to be rated R. I’m in favor of supporting directors’ visions but I feel like a strong PG-13 would suffice.

I get all of that but you also have to understand that Batman films are moving in a much darker direction nowadays (seeing as how there’s a higher demand for it and the studio realizes that these films are more for teens/adults than anything) I mean hell, even TDK was pushing the boundaries of PG-13.. Now I’m fine with PG-13 but I’m just saying, you can’t be upset if it happens to be R, not every superhero film is going to be child inclusive and nor should they. There’s plenty that are.

If we actually get a R-rated Batman film from Reeves here, I'm going to cheer. I'm not expecting it right now, but that would be a great way to open up the possibilities for Reeves and what he's going for with this new trilogy.
It would be interesting and even a breath of fresh air to not only receive a theatrical cut Batman film that’s rated R but a grimy/gritty detective Batman film that’s R and that seems to be the tone they’re heading for. However, I truly don’t think it will be R.. I think WB might be a little gun shy after TKJ tanked and BvS unrated was just.... meh at best. The latter being the epitome of making an R film just for the sake of being R.

Again, I'm still skeptical myself and expect the film to most likely be a 'pushing the limits' PG-13 film, as Cloverfield and the Apes films were. All things considered, that seems to make the most sense.

However... between the recent successes of Joker, Logan and the Deadpool movies, the rumors that Reeves is working with a small-ish budget for the film (correct me if I'm wrong there) and how all of the big sources of inspiration we've heard about for the film (Se7en, Zodiac and Chinatown) are all Rated R films, it might be that Reeves is angling for that extra leeway in order to fully achieve his vision.
