This guy just came out of nowhere. Very curious to hear how he got brought into the fold.

Pheonix could totally work in a battinson film because the joke the shrink wouldn't get, is that the entire movie was a hallucination. None if it actually happened, which is why he escaped at the end.

I thought the whole appeal of Joker was that it was an R-rated elseworlds tale movie that doesn't fit the typical comic book movie formula and breaks the mold? Isn't that why it generated the buzz it got? Seems like tying it to Reeves' Batman franchise would just take away from what made it so unique in the first place.

Probably doesn't mean absolutely anything but I found it a bit random how Egerton commented here

Paul Dano is not missing a chance to be in the Batman.

"Plemons is replacing Paul Dano, who was forced to drop out of the movie due to scheduling conflicts with “The Batman,” for which Dano was recently tapped to play the Riddler. Sources say Netflix and Dano’s team tried to work it out but in the end, the scheduling issues were too difficult to overcome."

Thank god! Plemons is great but Dano is a perfect choice for Riddler.

Confirmed

Robert Pattinson ... Bruce Wayne/Batman
Andy Serkis ... Alfred Pennyworth
Jeffrey Wright ... Jim Gordon
Zoe Kravitz ... Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Paul Dano ... Edward Nashton/Riddler
John Turturro ... Carmine Falcone

On Deck

Colin Farrell ... Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin
Jayme Lawson ... ???

I doubt this is going to be the last piece of casting news we'll get today. Someone in the trades is gonna want to compensate not getting this news.

That's another one I can't see right now. Turturro as Falcone?

I mean, alright.....

Give him the scarred look and the mustache and he looks really similar to Falcone in The Long Halloween.

Picturing Turturro as a mobster isn't hard. Picturing him as this suave Godfather-esque Long Halloween version of Falcone is a little harder, but it'll probably be fine.

He's mainly skittish and jumpy in every role I've seen him in. I just don't see him as a mob boss.

But who knows, maybe he'll be great. I just don't see it right now.

That’s my hang-up. I could see him as some goon or something, picturing him as a more cool, authoritative Don is harder.
