this thread is for all facts, rumours, and little tit bits about any of the batman movies, so share them here. but please not the sean young falling of a horse before batman 89, if your a batman fan i bet you've read it too many times already, heres some i've heard :)

*while going through ideas for the first batman warner bros even thought of having it as a comedy with bill murray as batman and eddie murphy as robin

* candidates up for the role of batman were alec baldwin, mel gibson and billy crystal

*roumoured candidates for the joker(1989) should nicholson not take the role were robin williams, steve martin and david bowie

*when micheal keaton left after batman returns warner bros considered casting mel gibson, alec baldwin and even tom hanks

*after batman (1989) there were rumours that the joker would return, as he dident fall to the bottom of the cathedral and that he actually did get away on the copter (the body was a dummy).......er....ohhhhkayyy

*the original cape to the batman suit (1989) was made of real bat's wings (yeah i know its ot true but i remember reading that at the time of the films release in a british newspaper)

*kim basinger was said to be dating micheal keaton and jack nicholson during the filming (along with prince, seperatley i hope) and during the scene near the end in the cathedral when vicki says 'oh i love purple' as she (ahem) goes down on the joker the shocked look on jack nicholsons face is said to be due to basinger giving him oral (i guess its not true but again from a british sunday newspaper from 1989)

*micheal keaton was said to be really grumpy during the filming of batman(1989) as he had to wait so long to use the toilet, due to the suit

thanks in advance:)

David Niven was never considered for The Joker in 1989. He died in 1983. I don't know where the heck you got that from. He was a great actor who had absolutley nothing Joker-like about him. He would've made a kick-ass Alfred, though. Actually, back when Tom Mankiewicz was on board back in the late 1970s', Niven was supposedly his pick for the part of Bruce's faithful butler.

Anyway, some of those facts are nothing new. They're still very interesting, though I'd bet most of them aren't true (I'm assuming that since I've seen a good many of them on imdb, which is generally full of ****). Still, not a bad job.

im not saying there fact as im sure alot of them are nonsence (and yeah your right about david niven) but what im askin is that people add little known facts about the batman movies, just thought it'd be fun to hear stuff i never knew.

Something I posted awhile ago (for humor):

Little Known Facts About Michael Keaton
Michael Keaton sued the writers and producers of the 2001 Ben Stiller comedy Zoolander for copyright infringement of the name of his eyes: Blue Steel

While on the internet, Keaton discovered a message board troll who said he was too pudgy, old, bald and ugly to play Batman. Keaton tracked this troll down and simply stared at him with his steel blue eyes until he froze to death.

Michael Keaton is, and always will be, better than you in nearly every way imaginable.

While hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live in 1992, an audience member heckled Keaton during his monologue. There were no survivors.

In the event of a nuclear holocaust, there will be only three things left standing: rats, roaches and Michael Keaton.

Michael Keaton is Spartacus.

When Michael Keaton was offered to do the chance to play Batman in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever, Keaton read the film’s terrible script and used it to beat up Schumacher. Keaton then vowed to someday seek revenge on the director for insulting his intelligence in such a blatant matter. Joel Schumacher now spends every single day of his life living in constant fear of when Keaton will strike.

Contrary to popular belief, Michael Keaton’s steel blue eyes, not kryptonite, is the only thing deadly to Supeman.

^^^would've been funnier if they were original, not jacked from vin diesel's and chuck norris'

There used to be a myth around the internet that in the scene in "Batman Returns" where Selina and Bruce are walking past the newspapers in the scene when he asks her to come over, apparentley if you looked closely one of the newspapers said "Joker's Body Missing" or something like that, It's obviously not true though because I've gone through it frame by frame and have found nothing.

Missing?? someone stole his body?? huh?
I don't know. It was a rumor that started within the stupid IMDb boards like 5 or 6 years ago.

I might known it was imdb, they came up with crap like that

*Each Batman costume was said to have weighed over 50 pounds and were all made of rubber but were supposed to be Kevlar. Stunt doubles had to be used as Batman in some of the fight scenes due to the intense choreography and the fact that the stunt men moved better in the suits than the actors did.

*When Michael Keaton was still attached to do "Batman Forever" Rene Russo was chosen to play his love interest, Dr. Chase Meridian, but when Keaton backed out and Val Kilmer came on board, Russo was deemed too old to be a believable love interest for Kilmer (Kilmer was born in 1959 while Russo was born in 1954, with Keaton having been born in 1951), and so Nicole Kidman got the job (Kidman was born in 1967).

*The working relationship between director Joel Schumacher and Val Kilmer, chosen by Joel after being impressed by Kilmer's work in "The Doors" and "Tombstone", was said to be very, very bad, with the two constantly arguing and, at one point, getting into a shoving match. Schumacher does not talk about this in his audio commentary; he even says Kilmer was the best Batman actor and praised him for doing most of BF's opening fight scene himself.

*Patrick Stewart was considered for the role of Mr. Freeze.

*Various lines were ad-libbed and re-written while filming the first film. The line "I'm Batman" was originally "I am the night."

*A deleted sequence (never even attempted to be filmed) from the first Batman film had Bruce Wayne chasing the Joker on horse back, which would lead to the introduction of Robin, his parents being killed by the Joker in the chase.

*Shawn Wayans was seriously considered for the role of Robin in "Batman Returns".

*The original script for "Batman Returns" had the Penguin & Catwoman seeking for buried treasure in Gotham's harbor. There was no Max Shreck character; Shreck's role was originally meant to be played out by Harvey Dent, who would be disfigured in the 2nd film and then set up as the villain for #3. There was also a sequence where the villains invaded Wayne Manor that was later used in "Batman Forever".

*Nicole Kidman had to dye her hair blonde in "Batman Forever" because the Riddler sported red hair (which makes no sense because the Riddler does not have red hair in the comics).

This thread made me go thru my old clippings, so here are some:

"Access Hollywood" reported that in a fifth possible bat flick, Madonna may be cast as Harley Quinn with Nicholson returning as Joker in a flashback sequence. The villain will be Scarecrow with a tentative title of Batman Triumphant.

After the lackluster success of B&R, fan speculation into further Bat films seemed grim, however WB spokesman assured fans that a new 5th batfilm will be in theatres in 2000. It was said Clooney will not be returning and may be replaced with Kurt Russell.

After the premier of B&R, Howard Stern made a comment on his show that he would make his bid to play Scarecrow in the 5th Bat film. Other potential villains rumored to be in the film was Mad Hatter, King Tut, even EggHead. Tom Cruise was once rumored as a candidate for Hatter.

During preproduction of B&R there were several rumored candidates for the roles of Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy including: Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis with Patrick Stewart being a fan favorite and Demi Moore and Julia Roberts repectively.

I remember Jeff Goldblum was rumored to play Scarecrow. He would've been really good I think.

I remember in '99 it was rumored that Ben Affleck wanted to play Batman and that he'd don the cowl if Gwyneth Paltrow played Catwoman.

I heard Michael Jackson turned down the chance to do the '89 soundtrack and that's how Prince got it.

It was rumored a Dark Knight Returns would be done, with either Paul Newman or Clint Eastwood playing an older Bruce Wayne and David Bowie playing the Joker.

This is all stuff I read throughout the years, I didn't make it up.

I thought that when Joel Schumacher was still the director who wanted to do Batman: Year One and wanted Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne in 99/2000. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember hearing the Marlon, not Shawn Wayans was gonna be Robin in Tim Burtons version of the 3rd Batman movie, obviously this never panned out

During the time of the Batman: Year One project is was rumored that Aronofsky wanted Aaron Eckhart for James Gordon and Christian Bale or Wes Bentley for Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Brad Douriff was also rumored to be The Riddler in Batman Forever.

Tom Mankiewicz said that he wanted an unknown for Bruce Wayne/Batman, David Nivan for Alfred, William Holden for Commissioner David Gordon (name change), Jack Nicholson for the Joker, and Peter O' Toole for the Penguin.

Edit: Sorry for the double post.

Isn't he the voice of Chucky?

Yes he is the guy that did the voice of Chucky. He also played Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King extended edition.
