Who would you like to see as the MCU Thing?

My top pick is Seth Rogen

While he's known for comedy and certainly would have the Jewish humour down pat, he can also do dramatic roles:

He even has the voice for Ben Grimm. It is naturally gruff at times as you'd expect, and not if he were to turn into a rock monster but just as his normal self. As Grimm, he can be affable and approachable, yet potentially giving off that grouchy feel too.

I wonder if Jake Johnson would be a good Ben Grimm. He has that down to earth everyman thing to him that Ben needs. The feeling that he could believably be friends with every hero in the MU.

I’ve adored Seth Rogen on twitter lately so I would love to see this. Oh my gosh they could team him up with Barbara Streisand again as his great aunt petunia!

Petunia was only ever his aunt though and not his great aunt. And she was actually a young woman as depicted by John Byrne. But I think Aunt Petunia should've been an older woman and Barbara Streisand would work well.

It might work. Comedians sometimes do good work with more dramatic roles. And you're right about him having that likable everyman feel.

I like Johnson for MCU. Though I feel he would make for a better hero or villain in The Spidey verse. Like a hobgoblin or one of the Jury

I thought out of the Fantastic 4, he was the least developed. Action wise, the other three had better material. The rock skin cgi looked really good, I just wish he had more to do in the film.

He seemed to have the least to do of the four. I'd wager that they trimmed a few scenes with him and Natasha Lyonne's character. But as a trade off, he did have some of the best lines in the movie. Ben reacting to Johnny speaking Shalla Bal's language with "He can barely grasp the English language" got the biggest laugh of the movie and the way Ebon delivered "IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME!" got a huge cheer.

I was also happy to see his pilot skills being showcased in an awesome way.

Yeah those lines got a good audience reaction, when I saw it last Wednesday.

Ebon was ok but he just sounded like some guy. I was hoping he would have a voice like Sal from Futurama

I thought the characterization was spot on and it leaned heavily on the Jonathan Hickman version of Ben, who's embrace that he's a rock like creature but behind that he's still Benjamin Grimm. The way he interact with the citizens of yancy street showed his acceptance which i liked that he walked down the street with happy disposition as opposed to a depressed tormented monster.

Ben and Johnny relationship is very much brotherly love with a bit of playful banter.

I thought Ebon nailed it but in terms of character moments and power show I thought Ben got the short end of the stick here. I get he can't fight Galactus but I would have loved an extended battle with SS to make up for it.

Surfer or Punisher or similar.

But besides not getting to clobber anybody, they didn’t give Ben anything else. Every other character had a clear role and interesting story, but Ben was just sort of there.

And that little “romance?” they threw in went nowhere and was just kind of perplexing.

For all this film did well, it was definitely disappointing that they just couldn’t seem to find any way to use one of the greatest characters in comic book history.

Yeah Ben definitely got the short end of the stick in terms of action and story. One hit from the Surfer seemed to take him out. He should have been stronger than that.

The movie needed a bit more umphf and action. We don't really see Reed do anything until the end. I loved the escape from Galactus' ship; we needed a bit more like that.

It annoys me how finicky and skittish the movies are about Reed Richards' powers and showcasing what he's truly capable of as well.

Galactus needed some more underlings for the heroes to fight like Terrax or Firelord. Would've been similar to the Black Order from the Avengers movies.
