The Best Sequels Nomination Thread

Inspired by Yahoo!'s recent list of best sequels, I think that the posters of the Hype should have a crack of making it's own list of best sequels. Just like many of the threads before, just use the Hunter Rider formula and nominate your top 3 nominations for best sequel. These do not have to be direct sequels or the first sequel (a "Part 2"), which means that franchises with more than one sequels are allowed (any trilogies and beyond, James Bond, Harry Potter, Star Trek, etc.)

The nominations will be open until May 31st. The actual "finals" thread will be made on June 1st. The 10 films with the most votes at the end will be in the "finals" thread. Get out and vote, and please, no votes for The Dark Knight.

Great and inspired choices. Kudos for nominating The Road Warrior. It is one of the best sequels ever made, and surpasses (the already great) Mad Max in every way.

Aliens just misses out.
X2 was a very good sequel but not quite in the same class as the above films.
The Two Towers was in the same class but doesn't really have a "sequelish" feel.
HP (Prisoner of Azkaban) also was a much better sequel than its predecessors but followed inferior first films.
