No,they said strike or no strike, finals will go on as scheduled.
I thought that's how it was with every college. My finals are not postponed either (luckily my remaining final is just a portfolio review so I can be an hour or so late).

I just hope my professor is able to make it in from Manhattan.

MTA picked a convenient time to strike, aye? I wonder if they can be held liable for lost tuition for students who recieve failing grades in college courses they could prove the would have passed otherwise.

Man this sucks balls, I'm gonna have to use the sneaks as my transit, goddamnit.

I'm staying at the Milford Hotel on 8th and 45th, its a decent location, we're surrounded by plays and ****.

I'm in an internat cafe right now trying to get directions to Canal St, going to walk there today, try to visit the Lower East Side, but Max, if your there, whats that place you recommended I check out there? Cant remember.

Saw the tree last night, surrounded by tourists. Feet were frozen, but it wasnt as bad as I thought it was, we saw some dirty snow in Central Park, the taxi van cost $30 from laguardia to the hotel, didn't help that various streets were blocked, preventing us from getting there faster. If anyone has some cool places they can recommend that is relatively close to me, go for it. I forgot where the Virgin store is Max, gonna look that up. Later.

edit: Oh, Union Square is the place, with forbidden planen the the virgin megastore

hey- hmmn
For food, there's Chat-n-Chew (like 16th or 17th, just a block off the square)
For comics, theres Forbidden Planet, which is a block below the Virgin Megastore. THe Virgin isnt awful for music- just corporate.
EDIT: OH- and a block below Forbidden Planet is The Strand- a Reall cool old landmark of a NYC bookstore.

8 or ten blocks below the Virgin, and a block or two eat of there, is Other Music. Good nerdy music store where everyone is a bit of an indie-snob-prick but that's part of the charm.
Its on Lafayette and forth, across the street from a big Tower Records.

two blocks east of Other Music, and 2 blaocks north is St. Mark's Place.
Kim's Underground is cool for music, movies, and some comics.
St. Marks comics is cool for comics.

edit- yeah. but check ot the other places i named too:)

if you're still there:(

To get to Canal Street, find Broadway an' follow it down. Can't miss it, it'll be th' big street goin' two ways with a lotta Asian people.

wait- where's midtown comics?
Isnt' that really close to his hotel?
also there's Jim Hanley's, which is 33rd between 5th and Broad (closer to the corner of 5th)

also, if you're down by canal and are able to check back at this computer, wlaking a few blocks north on the west side will get you to an area where there are a bunch of good little record stores.

It's called type in th' web address an' find th' locations. Think about it; in th' time it takes ya to wait fer someone to refresh yer memory that info coulda been yers by now. You ARE on th' web, after all. Use it, m'boy!

It's a magical land of pixies an' fairies who use magical binary codes to bring you a plethora of info from all around th' world!

The TWU can go **** themselves, **** their mothers, and **** their grandmothers.

I hope they don't get jack ****. They've screwed over the whole city during the worst time. I wish they'd be held responsible for the amount of money lost these last 2 days. ****ing crying about pensions and health care... some people don't even get those things and still don't consider striking.

I have no sympathy for any of those *******s and I hope to god they get hit with so many fines they'll spend the rest of their lives paying off thier greed.

sometimes its just more satisfying to get an answer by remembering ito on your own, or by asking another person. a living brathing person.
don't you ever feel a bit of emptiness growing in your soul when you rely on imdb to figure out the name of Switek's partner on Miami Vice instead of searching your own memories and finding the anwer?
i do.

he's hopping mad!:mad::eek:

Can't says I do. Info is info regardless of where it comes from, as long as I get it when I need it. I ask people who have expertise in some areas, other'n that lookin' up is just faster.

i'm mad cause they've put themselves above the needs of the city.... regardless of how ****ed up the MTA is... there's no reason to make the city suffer like this.

I mean all thier b1tching.... shouldn't the fare riders being the ones to strike? I mean in the end we're the ones who are gonna lose with fare hikes.

I'm glad I spit in the direction of one of the TWU workers on strike on my way to work.. ****ing pieces of ****.

I'd hafta agree somewhat. They place th' needs of th' few over th' needs of th' many. Then again, I do see their point 'cause if they keep workin' 'fore this is all resolved why should it be? At best a work slowdown would've been better fer all; they'd make their point an' people'd still have service.

yeah - but equint- are theyreally to blame?
Look at it this way- is it more sensible to hold thousands of people responsible for asking for what they feel is a fair share of their orgnaizations revenues, or to hold a very FEW people responsible (those at the top of the MTA food chain) responsible for not listening to its workers demands? THey CAN afford it, yknow.

Ultimately the best thing for me would be if the fares were a tad lower, the bosses weren't getting quite so rich, and the workers were making maybe a little bit more. But that will never happen, SO siding with the workers, for me, is the best way to change the power distribution.
Siding with management, in this case, is not going to do anything but further their position of power.

Everyone is saying "hey! there are some people who don't even get what the MTA workers are asking for, and you don't here THEM complaining. They're so selfish".
To that i say---"whaa?"
They SHOULD be complaining. we all should. For the most part, we all deserve more than we're given. I can't believe how ready people are to roll over and play dead. Why is everyone so complacent? Why do we view it as 'selfishness' to make demands? Why take the "shut up if you know what's good for you" route? we shouldn't have to.

Seriously, who's selfish? who? a person asking for an 6% raise or a guy at the top who's probably getting millions in tax-sheltered bonuses and other perks?

I took this picture on my cell this morning.... probably one of few good things was the walk across the bridge.
