Shazam The Billy Batson/Shazam casting thread

Who is he?! He's never been suggested a hundred times before!

I like him

Since this is the first time I've ventured into this thread, I can't exactly tell if that's sarcasm.

Anyway, he played Jim Halpert in The Office (US). He was on the short list for Cap back in 2010. He's plenty tall (6'3"), naturally built (and probably can get much bigger) and has that child-like quality to him that would be perfect for Captain Marvel (refusing to call him Shazam here!).

EDIT: Oh, here we are. Page 7.

I'm a fan of Yeoman's but the more I've been thinking about this the more I REALLY like the Krasinski idea. He's got the charisma, charm, and height to go against Dwayne. He has a decent frame to build upon. And he would definitely fit the Kid/adult Superhero version of Big. I actually think it's an ideal fit for both the character and the actor.

Hey, so, Mike, you wouldn't happen to have ventured into the Shazam thread at ES.c back in, uh, I dunno, September 2014, right? ;)

Nice to see you around these parts, btw.

I'm always sarcy, so don't take offense :p
Nah, none taken. I've been pulling for him to get the role ever since I binge-watched all of The Office, but the role that really sealed the deal for me was in Promised Land (which he wrote and directed) opposite Matt Damon. The guy can really hold his own in the acting department.

Hi Jer!, and likewise. I still visit ES just not posting much. Anyway a good idea, is a good idea.

I'd be okay with Krasinski. But I'd much rather see his lovely wife in a superhero role.

Hell no to Kellan Lutz. Granted I'm not that interested in Shazam as of yet but one way to get me to not see it is to get Lutz to play the lead hero.

Just give it to Armie Hammer, Jesus. I'm tired of going in circles. His turn in Lone Ranger and Uncle kinda sold me.

If the best argument that can be made for an actor is that they have large muscles, then there isn't really an argument for them at all.

Well, hell, that cancels out just about every suggestion in this thread, then.

I'd like to recommend Alexander Ludwig. He's only 23 at the moment and will be 26 by the midpoint of 2019. Now to me if a child was able to turn into the ideal adult they would turn into someone 25-32. Around that age when an adult now has quite a few life experiences but can still be without too much responsibility. Ludwig is probably most famous for being in the first Hunger Games as Cato and Vikings as Bjorn Ironside where he is shown to be able to efficiently portray someone who can fight and the guy is absolutely stacked and is 6'2". Now I know he has done some comedy roles recently though I haven't seen him in them so I'm not sure how good he can play a comedic role but he has that boyish look.

He looks way too young. Shazam should be about late 20s looks wise.

I have Ludwig pencilled in for the eventual Thor reboot

Patrick Wilson of Fargo would be good. At 6'0" he's tall enough to give Dwayne Johnson a visible edge as Black Adam.

Krasinski and Hammer are so far the best choices, but how about Benjamin Walker?

He's got a Patrick Warburtony thing about him. I've never seen him act, but he fits the bill, physically.

Was in Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter but is more a theatre actor.
