Yeah, after Billy Batson transforms into him for the first time and sees himself, then when he turns back into Billy, he'll probably think "never utter that phrase Shazam ever again!"


On a different note, what if, instead of Billy turning into Shazam, they had Billy turning into Mary Marvel when he speaks those words? That would be an interesting new take on the character. Of course, that would mean that Mary Batson wouldn't exist and that Billy/ Mary are essentially one and the same character. Apart from Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde, has that sort of transformation ever happened in a movie?

It's an interesting idea but, as hinted by Rodrigo, a young boy suddenly finding himself in a young adult woman's body is probably not a good premise for a family movie.

Someone's got to make that movie though, even if it is a reimagining of "Big".

I'm surprised such a thing wasn't made in the 1980s, which is when that sort of movie would've been made.

Why do you want new 52's Billy Batson?
It was stated on the previous page that the classic Billy is a wimp. What's wrong with being a vimp? He can learn to be brave and heroic. This is a coming-off age story. As we know, when he transforms into Shazam, he get's the courage of Achilles.
And it's not like the boy is saving the world anyway, but rather his adult superhero alias.

I think you need a kid who looks innocent and full of wonder, and not someone who looks like a bully or too street wise. Shazam has to almost be a wish fulfilment of a boy who might otherwise be ignored or bullied by others. That way, he gets to be someone that the other bullies might admire and respect. If Billy looks and acts like a bully himself, there doesn't seem to be a sense of justice when he becomes Shazam.

Exactly.
I don't want a Brad Renfro 2.0 character. Starting with his debut role in The Client, he always played characters with an attitude, Is that kind of kid/teenager worthy of becoming Shazam? Why not a innocent, dreamy boy who gets the courage of Achilles.
Go on and suggest Tye Sheridan all you want. The character still needs to be what Dark Raven just said. In other words, a young Barret Oliver or (pre Bates Motel) Freddie Highmore personality and look.
I still go on with my suggestions Jacob Lofland (the older candidate), Aramis Knight, Isaac Hempstead Wright and Lino Facioli (the younger ones).
