The Boondocks season 4 premiere release date appears to have been officially confirmed.

The air date is January 4, at 11 p.m., Adult Swim said.

The hit show from Aaron McGruder follows the Freeman family, who moves from Chicago’s south side to the suburb of Woodcrest.

Adult Swim had previously said that the series was renewed and that the first episode would air in January, but hadn’t announced the air date until now.

Season 3 ended on August 15, 2010.

The last episode, “It’s Goin’ Down,” had Huey, the main suspect in an imminent terror attack near Woodcrest, going on the run while he was pursued by a high-ranking secret agent.

However, some people said that Cartoon Network would have given more notice, and that the air date on Adult Swim’s website is for a re-run from a past season.

“I have to question the validity of this Boondocks season 4 air date,” said one via Twitter. “I haven’t seen any promo, nor does it even show on the guide.”

“Boondocks premiere tomorrow? I doubt it,” said another.

But others believe that it will air.

"DUDE BOONDOCKS SEASON 4 AIRS TOMORROW NIGHT AT 11,” said one Facebook user, basing his view off the Adult Swim page. “AWWWWWWWWWW YEAH."

”Still others are taking a wait and see approach.“When I see the Adult Swim 2014 commercials they do mention Boondocks but we shall see,” said one person on Twitter.

My DVR is set to record tomorrow's episode, but the description is a re-run. If it does air tomorrow then it's crazy they didn't promote the show. I don't think there is an announcement on Adult Swim's website.

I’m afraid we have discovered a bit of bad news surrounding The Boondocks season 4 premier date.

We’ve promised to keep you up to date on the latest news involving season 4 of The Boondocks. Many people bought into the false rumors that the show would air on January 4th of this year, but there has still been no official release date info other than sometime in January 2014. We started to dig around and we found some rather unfortunate news about the release date for season 4.

There have been several responses from people highly involved with the series that imply that this season has been pushed back, quite possibly to April of this year.

Not that I want it cancelled but it's been off the air for so long and it's controversial and keeps getting postponed.

Which is why I'm not surprised the season has been delayed. It'll start when it starts. I'm looking forward to it but I have other things to distract myself before then.
