The Brave and the Bold News and Discussion Thread

On a recent Hot Mic, Sneider and Rocha speculated that Clayface could be an audition for Mike Flanagan to take on the DCU Batman. That wouldn't be a bad idea.

If he was able to get Gunn to greenlight a Clayface movie based on the strength of his script for it, I could easily see Gunn giving him the scriptwriting duties on Brave And The Bold to get it to where Gunn wants it to be.

What percentage chance would you give that James Gunn decides to write and direct BatB himself as his next project?

98%.

I've been writing about it since day one, but Gunn has already said that Batman is his favorite DC character, and now he finds himself with the keys to the kingdom. Add to that the fact that he wants this BATB movie to feature certain aspects of Morrisson's run, including a young Robin assassin, and it's hard not to imagine Gunn wanting to do it himself (regardless of what we think of the real link between this reference and the director's sensibility).
Muschietti's announcement doesn't seem to matter to me. He may get a producer's credit at the end, but I still think that a lot of what was announced in the famous DCU introdutcion video was just that: an announcement. The desire to make these films is real, but I don't think we should take the details at face value, and we've seen a lot of changes since then anyway.

If I were braver, I'd bet my left *** that Gunn will be working on Batman after his Superman.

Given they are two of the three foundational characters and he is the architect of the universe, I could see why he would want to set the tone in terms of look and character for both.

Gunn has given so many hints that he wants to do a Batman/Superman team up. I believe that will come out before Brave and the Bold. Batman is coming to the DCU sooner than most think. With the positive buzz around Supes Gunn needs to bring in the Big gun to challenge the MCU.

Yeah I'm thinking World's Finest is his next movie.

Superman, written and directed by James Gunn

BATB, written by David Koepp and directed by Sam Raimi

World's Finest, written and directed by James Gunn

I'd much rather Gun do a proper Superman sequel if the first film is a hit. Jumping right into Worlds Finest is too much deja vu for me.

There's a lot of difference between making "World's finest" after a Superman and Batman own films, and making a Batman v Superman film that introduces the Justice League, Lex, Doomsday and the death of Superman, as the second film of your shared universe.

If you can't tell the difference, the problem is yours, and, perhaps, this possible film would serve to exorcise your fears.

Raimi adapting clayface or killer croc would be so sick

I meant wanting them to avoid following up with Superman with another team-up film with Batman. I'm all for a Worlds Finest movie at some point, but until then I hope Gunn continues to explore Superman's own mythos in his solo films.

We got to get Luthor and The Joker as the lead villains, right?
If that happened it would be the first movie to have to break 2.5 million to not be considered a flop. :astonish: :woozy:

The animated series did an excellent job with all four of them. A+ story for a cartoon.

Yea I agree. And based on everything Gunn has been saying thus far, he doesn't seem to be in a rush to do a "team-up" focused movie anytime soon.

That's why I've said first Superman, then BATB and then World's finest.

Sam Raimi directing a Batman movie would be a dream come true .

But to be honest, I do think that Andy Muschietti could have a great Batman movie in him.

That's not that different lol.

He likely meant a Superman sequel first, and then the others.

Even if I love Superman, I am all for Gunn passing along the Superman baton to someone else while he focuses on something else. Like he can write the sequel's story or something for the sake of consistency but if they want to pull a Mission: Impossible or Harry Potter with Supes and get a different director to do their thing with each movie, I wouldn't be mad. I'll never believe Gunn was the best possible fit out there for the character, and I'm still extremely interested in seeing other directors take him on. But I definitely want another Superman movie before any World's Finest film, regardless of who makes it.

Not remotely interested in a Raimi Batman tbh, because I straight-up don't like Sam Raimi, but whatever, I've got my Matt Reeves version so I'm good with whatever comes along there I guess.
