Oh yeah he’d have been ****ing sick.
So talented, he actually wrote a film not even Andy could undo.Oh yeah he’d have been ****ing sick.
Probably a comp between you, Sword, and I who took it the worst.Of course. The one that hurt me the most.![]()
Sounds like living through a season of True Detective.Imagine being on the set of True Detective, less a film shoot and more of a messy divorce between two profoundly unlikable men.
He's got so much on his plate the only way I could see him as a realistic possibility is if Highlander tanks and he needs that paycheck AND DC offers him more money than Lionsgate would for John Wick 5 lol.
I always predicted that Cavill would become a male Mila Jovovich.Well, Highlander has Cavill so it will definitely tank lol
I could see him playing a character like Vandal Savage, maybe.I know Del Toro has been tied to Justice League Dark forever but do any of you think he would ever do a Batman movie?

In any case, I would be interested!I know Del Toro has been tied to Justice League Dark forever but do any of you think he would ever do a Batman movie?
He'd totally nail an Arkham: A Serious House, on a Serious Earth adaptation.Del Toro
Idk. He's been spectacularly underwhelming when not working in Indonesia. Not to undervalue his achievements with The Raid duology but its evident to me he was only one of the many, many factors that made those movies what they are.The best action director to helm a Batman project is Gareth Evans. This isn't open to debate, people lol.
His Raid movies are his masterpieces, but I enjoyed Havoc and Gangs of London very much.Idk. He's been spectacularly underwhelming when not working in Indonesia. Its possible, but the big issue here is that you're not gonna get a GDT. There are tons of great, name brand directors who would probably kill to do a Batman movie but none of them are going to be hired guns on a screenplay they had nothing to do with that they're gonna be locked into with Gunn heavily overseeing them. No idea if the DCU broadly is going to have that level of micromanagement by Gunn but we can all probably agree that this one will ultimately primarily be his vision.I know Del Toro has been tied to Justice League Dark forever but do any of you think he would ever do a Batman movie?

The best you'd probably get is someone like Evans as talked about above or a nice middle of the road experienced genre guy like Dan Trachtenberg or, idk, Gareth Edwards.
Haha, Maggie would crush it for sure if she was interested in doing one of these. She’s a great director, if you haven’t seen The Lost Daughter you oughta.Yeah, that’s a good point. Gunn is having a lot of oversight over this project specifically since Batman is so important to the DC brand overall. Trachentenberg could actually be amazing and I think could possibly work really well on a project like that but I would prefer he keep developing his awesome Predator universe rather than get pulled off of it to do a Batman movie.
I don’t think Gunn will end up directing this but he may be the primary writer on the script or at least the co-writer so yeah, whoever does take it on will have to adjust to his style in some capacity. I don’t think Gunn will try and micromanage that director to the point that he won’t allow any creative freedom but it might be jarring if said director goes for a style that doesn’t vibe with any of Gunn’s trademark humor or heartfelt themes.
As for directors I think COULD work well within that type of scenario (and could potentially make a good Batman movie)…
Maggie Gyllenhaal! Okay this one is only based on the trailer for The Bride! But holy **** it looks amazing and the dark humor feels like maybe Maggie could work well with Gunn. And screw it. We need more women directors out there. What I’ve seen of Maggie’s work in that movie looks way more interesting than the 100 or so bland male directors who just got $100M gigs from movie studios in the past two weeks alone.

Considering that The Brave and the Bold, as it was originally announced, would pair Batman with his son Damian Wayne, who’s about 10 years old in the comics, does that mean the DCU’s Bruce Wayne (and hence the actor who will play him) will be in his mid-to-late 30s?
“No, I think you have to wait to see the movie. Some things have changed. Plenty of things are in flux on what his situation is with his parentage and all that stuff, so I wouldn't take any of it – Yeah, I mean, the actor who wants to... Listen, first of all, I can't tell you the amount of big actors that have told me they want to be Batman,” Gunn said.
“I think you'd have a harder time finding actors who don't want to be Batman. He's the one character everyone wants to play. That's the truth.”
I pressed Gunn for clarification about his remark about Damian’s “parentage” and asked whether Damian Wayne is still in the movie or not. Curiously, Gunn’s response was not a simple yes or no: “I think you have to wait to see exactly what's happening.”
