AnnaSophia Robb To Play Young Carrie Bradshaw In CW Pilot ‘Carrie Diaries’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

After an extensive search that included testing a number of young actresses for the role, Soul Surfer star AnnaSophia Robb has been cast as young Carrie Bradshaw in the CW drama pilot Carrie Diaries. The project, from Warner Bros TV and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, is based on Candace Bushnell’s novel Carrie Diaries, a prequel to her best-seller Sex And The City that was adapted into the iconic HBO series. It chronicles Carrie’s (Robb) coming of age in the 1980s when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan. Amy Harris (Gossip Girl) wrote the script and is executive producing with Bushnell, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. The casting marks a homecoming of sorts for Robb who got her first break on the CW’s predecessor the WB where she was cast as the lead in the 2004 telefilm An American Girl. Coincidentally, that film was executive produced by Julia Roberts whose niece, Emma Roberts, was also in contention for the role of Carrie. Robb, repped by CAA and Untitled, segued into a feature career, with major roles in such movies as Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Race To Witch Mountain, The Space Between, and most recently the based-on-a-true story Soul Surfer, in which she portrayed the title character, teen surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost an arm in a shark attack.
So, the character ages from this girl into Sarah Jessica Parker?

That's...... rough. :o

Scoop: Cuba Gooding Jr. to Headline Fox's Greg Berlanti-Produced Drama Pilot Guilty

In what would mark his first full-time TV gig, Oscar winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. has landed the lead role in Guilty, a Fox drama pilot from Greg Berlanti and his fellow Eli Stone producer Marc Guggenheim.

After being falsely convicted of fraud and stripped of his legal license, a brilliant, morally questionable defense attorney — William “Billy” Remz (Gooding) — uses his unorthodox methods to solve the cases he’s been prohibited from handling and to exact revenge on those who set him up.

McG has signed on to direct the pilot.
Good to see him getting more work.

Hollywood Reporter:
Rachael Taylor Moves Into ABC Drama Pilot '666 Park' (Exclusive)
The former "Charlie's Angels" star will play a co-manager of the historic apartment building at the center of the project.

Rachael Taylor is going from being one of Charlie's angels to a co-manager of a creepy apartment building for ABC.

The former Charlie's Angeles co-star has joined ABC's drama pilot 666 Park Avenue, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

666 Park revolves around a young couple who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City as they unwittingly begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building.

Taylor will play Jane opposite Dave Annable's Henry, the young couple at the center of the project that's based on the book series by Gabriella Pierce. Lost's Terry O'Quinn will portray the owner of the building.

David Wilcox (Fringe) is attached to adapt the Warner Bros. Television project and executive produce alongside Alloy's Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. Alex Graves will direct the pilot

Taylor co-starred opposite Minka Kelly and Annie Ilonzeh in ABC's failed Charlie's Angels reboot, which was canceled in October. The 666 Park casting continues her streak at the network, having recurred on ABC's Shonda Rhimes medical drama Grey's Anatomy last year.

Taylor, whose credits include Transformers, is repped by WME and Marquee Management.

:hrt::hrt::hrt:
O'Quinn, Annable and Taylor, the same director as the pilot of Fringe, written by a former Fringe writer? I'm sold.

Cuba being cast in something I like the sound of =

I give it one season.

Because it has a twist.

The pilot is pretty good, very interesting concept...nice mix of crime drama, fantasy, "existential" drama. The main guy's acting is pretty solid.

I do worry how long they can sustain the premise and it does sound like it may be a better fit for a mini-series than on-going series. Due to premise, they don't have wriggle room to get lazy like X-files (throw in a monster of the week episode as filler) They need to bring A-game each episode, which is an enormous challenge.

It seems to be that anything that strays out of the normal procedures for it's particular genre tend to not last long.

Scoop: Matthew Perry Returning to NBC as Star of Comedy Pilot Go On

NBC is welcoming an old Friend back into the fold.

Matthew Perry has been tapped to headline Go On, a single-camera comedy from the actor’s former Friends colleague Scott Silveri about a sportscaster who, while trying to move on from a loss, finds solace in his mandatory group-therapy sessions.

Julie White (Law & Order: SVU, Transformers) is set to co-star as a widow stuck in the anger stage of grief.

Perry, who attempted a sitcom comeback last season with ABC’s short-lived Mr. Sunshine, will next be seen playing a new foil for Julianna Margulies on The Good Wife.
Love Perry, but this just sounds bland. Then again, it's just a description, and comedy is really all about execution, so who knows...

I still watch Friends reruns on TBS. I want a reunion show!

Awake tonight. In about 10 minutes for those of you on the east coast.

Don't you let me down. :argh:

Wow, I almost completely forgot that was going to be on. :O

I thought Awake was pretty good. That bit at the end sold me on it for sure. I'm curious to see it's ratings tomorrow.

Well it had the best numbers all season for NBC in that timeslot, which isn't saying much. It has a poor lead in but maybe it can remain stable and we'll at least get all 12 remaining episodes.

The series premiere of NBC's Awake drew just a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating, and 6.247 million viewers. While that's far better than the 1.4 rating for the spring premiere of The Firm in that timeslot, it's just a tenth better than the premiere of Prime Suspect last Fall.

NBC needs something to hold them over until the 2012 London Olympics in August. And then after August, comes NBC's highest rated fall program for the last six years.

I just saw an ad saying Breakout Kings is starting second season soon......HOW??? How can a show like that get a second season?

Part of the problem is that with no football NBC doesn't have many highly rated programs on right now. They've got The Voice and that's pretty much it. Compared to NBC's lineup Awake actually did quite well. We just hoped it would've done better based on other networks. But with Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday programming that ranges from 0.9-2.2 in the demo and 3.5-6.5 million viewers it actually did "great".

The Voice does well, don't know how much they promoted the show this week. So Awake will still stay on if it doesn't crater below 1.0 in the demo and could come back for a second season (at least another 13 episodes).

So the season could end on a somewhat positive for NBC. While Smash and Awake aren't 'hits' they're adequately filling two hours of programming a week and show actors, writers and producers they're willing to put those type of shows on the air, which will help lure talent back to NBC. If they can snag some Emmy noms from them, that's a bonus.

America has over 300 million people and all you need is 1 million to stay on most cable channels like A&E. Plus the Nielsen ratings system is flawed but if we take them at their word there are enough people out there who enjoy the show.

NBC has relied too much on football in previous years. Good to see that they actually have a plan besides football

I see Awake's premiere did only OK...which I knew would happen. It's a crime show that doesn't follow the generic routine...people don't like that.

I liked it.

Nothing spectacular. But better than most of the stuff a network like the CW has.

Well, I don't know about all that. :o

Deadline:
Julia Stiles To Star In NBC Drama Pilot ‘Midnight Sun’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: Julia Stiles is set as the lead in NBC’s drama pilot Midnight Sun. The thriller, based on an Israeli format, follows the mysterious disappearance of Midnight Sun, a group living on a cult-like commune in Alaska. It centers on Leah Kafka (Stiles), a female FBI cult specialist leading the investigation that uncovers a larger conspiracy. Also cast in the pilot, written by Lisa Zwirling, are Emma Bell (The Walking Dead) as Rory, the cult leader’s (Titus Welliver) daughter, and Daniella Pineda. This marks the first series regular gig for Stiles, whose feature credits include the blockbuster Bourne franchise. She previously did a season-long guest arc on Showtime’s Dexter, which earned her an Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Stiles, who had multiple pilot offers, is with ICM and Untitled. Bell is with ICM and Brillstein Entertainment; Pineda with Innovative and manager Kirsten Ames.

It would not surprise me in the least to have a few actors who had pilot offers take deals to appear on more established shows as cast members. I'm sure that Kelli Giddish had a few offers last year after Chase got canceled, but she instead chose to join Law and Order: SVU in a supporting role. She can easily do that show for another two years (if it lasts that long).

Kevin McKidd was probably offered pilots after his show ended, but he chose Grey's Anatomy. I think he's in his third season on that show.
