THE CINEMA LOUNGE

fan flix has some really great deals on movies and tv if anyone is interested

i'm tempted on smallvile: complete series and house of the dragon Season 1

couple more deals:

Mikey Madison deserves the Oscar win, but I have a hunch they might try to give to Amy Adams cause she is ‘’over due’..

I don't think Amy Adams is in the top 5 for the year based on projections/predictors.

Karla Sofia Gascon & Angelina Jolie is currently #2 & #3

Went to a bar/lunch type place today in Santa Cruz very early around 11ishh in the am, and it was kinda a vibe that early on, local souls and out of towners lookin for a drink and bite to eat. Got an order of eggs Benedict with bacon and turkey, trying to cure my hangover from previous night, the barkeep guide me onto a wonderful chocolate stout, had about 3 and realized some folks were glued to one of the screens as it was playing the Goonies. I don’t know why, but it pulled some heart strings before I snapped out of it. I pointed out some places ‘’the lost boys’’ was filmed at, only to have my ‘’better half ‘’ glued to her phone, as I mumbled and bit my tounge in rage. It is what it is.

Well, got my new refillable popcorn bucket for 2025. And they actually gave it a movie related design, with quotes. Some of the choices are... interesting.

I do appreciate that they changed the buckets to white last year. Easier to know which buckets are clean, because if anything the pandemic has taught me, don't trust other peoples' cleanliness.

Well now you made not want one.

Because I go so often, I don't know why I don't just get the refillable popcorn bucket other than it just feels weird bringing it into the theater each time.

Random thought:

I’ve always had a thing for Keira Knightley. But she seems to not take many risks. Watching Nosferatu and she crept up on me as a perfect Eggers casting. At one point she was kinda known as the period drama go to, but even some of my ‘’film’’ friends just kinda yawn at the mere mention of her name. It also kinda seems like she has been ‘aged’’ out by the industry in some sense? Perhaps that’s just me looking at it that way. To me, she is a better actress than Margot, Pugh, Felicity’s etc…I would love to see her working with auteurs, like a Lynn Ramsay for instance. Eh.

I think with her it's been a combination of being disgusted with the Hollywood machine and wanting more privacy after being under such scrutiny during the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and taking on less projects to spend more time with her family. I don't think we've seen the last of her by far but I'd also love to see her around more again.

Would you guys crucify me if I told you two things:

Nosferatu is the first Eggers film that I ever saw and B), while it was a masterpiece, I think The Substance was the better horror this year?

Both had great occult symbolism though. :sneeze:

I have nothing profound to add except that she is the best Catwoman that never was. Her and Rosario.
