THE CINEMA LOUNGE

but do i care enough to follow what others are watching when i can't even commit to watching anything myself? :hmm:

CC's Letterboxd

am i even gonna be able to keep up with this? now i gotta go all the way through the Movie Club thread to see what i watched so i can add it

You will keep up if you download the app on your phone. And you can add movies to your watchlist... I'm sure it'll be in the thousands. :o

Lucky for you, I'm keeping a record:

1940’s movies done: Arsenic & Old Lace, Double Indemnity, The Great Dictator, The Third Man, Treasure of the Sierra Madre

1980’s movies done: Beetlejuice, Chopping Mall, The Friday the 13th series, the Indiana Jones series, The Lost Boys, Possession, Raging Bull, The Shining, The Thing

1990’s movies done: Casino, Eyes Wide Shut, Galaxy Quest, Se7en

2010’s movies done: Death of Stalin, the Mission: Impossible series, Portrait of a Lady on Fire

I had an old Rotten Tomatoes profile where I had so many movies logged since 2010 and ever since they changed their site, it's been a pain in the ass to transfer it to Letterboxd. So I'm literally adding them one by one on a separate account.

my phone does not have enough memory for a watchlist haha!
isn't that what Vudu, Movies Anywhere et al are for?

besides, am I really going to write reviews? i'm terrible at them.
i could post the ones from my defunct thread in sig (shameless plug! ha) and clips from posts in here and i'd probably be banned for worst reviews on site.

i never have really taken any stock into Rotten Tomatoes. what someone may absolutely love, may have a score of like 20% or something, whereas a movie they hate is in the 80's. people like what they like. i don't tend to follow what critics say in regard to what i experience, be is music, books, movie etc. i'll formulate my own opinion

I never really cared for RT either but it was the only place at the time where I could log in movies and keep track of them.

you kinda can on br.com too i think but i've never looked to far into it. i used it to track my collection though. although i've probably not updated my physical collection in a year because i'm trying to downsize.

I was thinking of joining Letterboxd a while back but felt it would just be another thing I'd forget about after a while. I share what I watch here and at another forum, that's fine enough.

A list for comics and DVDs/BDs, however, that I need to keep updated on the monthly so I stop accidentally double dipping.

then i'd recommend Bluray.com for the movies. the app is handy when you're in the store and you need to see your collection to know if you own something or not. i've bought something i already owned more than once.

as for comics, i'm all ears for one

I started using League of Geeks for comics, but I've fallen behind on updating it. It's user based when it comes to uploading some books, so not all trades I've looked up have been on it. I prefer the website over the app when it comes to adding books.

For movies, I have a painstakingly written list posted over at the other aforementioned forum. Keep a notepad on the computer logged for all of them. I might look into Bluray.com.

I log my comics on goodreads, but I don't do it often enough to know how quickly new releases get added. I've never yet been unable to find what I was looking for, though.

i do that when i read them, but not to track what i own

I will look into League of Geeks. i finally found the link i was looking for last night
i was using this to track my collection and price them as i want to sell pretty much all of them but i've been so behind with work, back injury, etc
just logged in for giggles, and i've added 530-ish to my collection and it's value is approx $3043.00

as for Blu-ray.com, you can probably just copy and paste from your notepad to add them. it's pretty easy, especially if you use UPC's as i don't know how you were logging them.

here is my Comic Collection as it stands:

how do they identify celebs accounts as being legit there? couldn't people pretend to be celebrities like they do on Twitter/X?

Well he just posted on instagram that he's now on letterboxd but yeah there's no real verification or blue checkmarks for it.

Margot Robbie had a secret account but deleted it once people found out about it.

it's a shame she felt she had to do that. sometimes i feel like we have too much access to celebrities

like my cousin that was on Wednesday, it's paving the way for future roles and stuff. Her new Samsung Galaxy commercial dropped recently. I just hope she's still able to be herself, i already see weird fan stuff out there about her and i'm protective a bit, even though we only met once at a family reunion a few years back. i'm much closer to her dad

According to LoG, I've imputed over 600 trades and HCs estimating a value of over $17,000, but you can change prices to reflect what you paid. Since I can't remember all the deals I've made over the last 2 decades of regular collecting, it says spent around 12k. I think it's less than that. I hope it's less than that as I still have a little over 2/5ths of my collection to upload.

I have issues, so many issues.

One thing I like about LoG is that it allows you to add a lot of information on the free app, too (although there is a subscription service as well). Like condition, read or unread, which printing you have, variant cover, etc.

Also, this is how I organize things on paper, and if I had the space, on my shelves too.

Quite possibly the most aggravating article about movies I've ever read in my life.

The first entry, "If you’ve seen the Lord of the Rings franchise a million times....turning any of the movies in the original trilogy on in the background is never a bad idea."

So a good movie to put on while you scroll on your phone is one you've seen multiple times before?

thanks-for.gif

The Killer

One of the best films of the year. Fincher doing what he does best. I'm also wearing my 'The Smiths' tshirt. hmmm.
