The City of Tomorrow: The Metropolis Thread

I have no complaints about the Metropolis we got, but I wonder if Luthor’s shenanigans ****ing up a portion of the city and it being somewhat crudely stitched back together by Mr. Terrific leaves the door open for some technological assistance to leap forward into being the City of Tomorrow.

Yep, that was my first thought as well.

With Gunn's quote about how DC's fictional cities allows them to really go crazy with worldbuilding and design, I really expected more from Metropolis.

As weird as it seems, my favorite live-action depiction of Metropolis is from Superman Returns, it really have that 1996 Superman TAS feel to it.

I think Gunn more or less followed the Superman Returns template, except the fashion is 70s instead of 40s, and instead of New York City it's Cleveland.

But yeah same, I still prefer Superman Returns.

Wasn't it Frank Miller who said that Metropolis should be NY at daytime, and Gotham NY at nightfall? He sure as hell got Superman wrong, but not Metropolis.

The only complaint I have about the DCU's Metropolis is that I wish we saw more of it during Act III. Lois, Jimmy, & the DP crew basically disappear during the final fight & reappear at the very end.

Would have been nice to see the DP crew using the T-Ship to save citizens that hadn't evacuated yet. I needed my obligatory "Superman saves Lois" scene but we never got it. It's obviously very cliche but I like seeing Supes catch Lois
