Lets face it, this place is dying. People always look to the past for nostalgic memories of the community gone past. Nobody is really doing anything to stop the bleeding. The only thing people do is talk about banned posters or things that used to be and the thread turns into jokes and GR87 memories while this place is being over moderated. I am not hating on the mods, they do a good job, but this place has been busted up too much. We have as many posters on this site as ever so why is the community almost a ghost town?

So lets make this thread a serious discussion about what we think needs to be done to revive this place.

I really think the diner needs to be merged back into here. I understand not wanting to see 10 threads on games like finish the story but I really think more people would be in here if you combined the two. Plus I participated in those games when they were in here. Now, I don't even go into the diner...ever. Just allow the top 5 or so diner threads to be open in here.

Please mods, really take serious what people say in here. We are the community and we know more than anyone else. What else?

I think, like most things it just changes over time due to people growing up, growing out of it, and new people coming on board. I know they gotta be more stringent when it comes to certain stuff now that they got a new partner on board via Crave or whatever, so do what you gotta.

This place used to be my life. I would rush home from work just to get on and post for hours. That was a few years ago. Now i just post when I'm bored and don't have anything to do. I have however sparked a little interest in the site again due to 2011-2012 being packed with superhero movies.

So what would make this place more lively? There are some times, especially in the morning, where no one posts in here for an hour.

I agree that the dinner or at least some of it should be merged back.

I have been lurking on the site for years but didn't join until recently. I can say that I'm a member on various animation sites and a few others... and have been so for 10 years or so. This is definitely one of the "busiest" boards of the ones that I frequent.

Alright, I'll start posting in the community forum again...

It's a new day.

Back in the day there was 1 or 2 superhero films coming out. So less people were on the Hype. That small community of posters would join together in this Community Forum.

Now, there are almost a dozen comic book based films per year and most of them are HUGE franchises (Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man). The individual forums are all over capacity. Heck, each could fill up an individual message board on their own. And I think that begins the domino affect. More people in those forums means less people in this forum. As the lag drives people away, and new posters are too invested in their film forums to bother coming to the community.

And yes, splitting the forum up into the Diner was a bad idea.

I'm okay with the community forum dying.

I'm okay with y-- never mind.

Well, I seriously doubt this place is dying cause I haven't been posting lately :cwink:.

I'm in school and trying to find a job and what not...I lurk/post on other boards...things happen. I've left these boards a few times and always came back.

But no, this place is pretty much a ghost town.

When I think of the Community forum, I think "I haven't checked the Funny pics thread in awhile" or "That guy murdered his family, I bet someone made a thread about that".

Clearly you're missing out on my "How Do You Sleep With Someone?" Thread.

Alright, I'll start posting in the community forum again...

That's exactly what we need. A few lame zebras that the lions can rip to bits. Of course, that was a joke. BUT it does lead into my point (I have a point?! We shall see):

I agree with Chase that better traffic would be needed, but what kind of traffic? It won't fix the problem that many have identified. So you'll have more posts. There'll be a thread at the top of the list that was posted in 2 minutes ago... big whoop. This post will be: A smiley face, an awesome face, a meme (disappoint or some sh**), or a news thread with one solitary link and not even a hint of a witty comment.

My point being, the banter has gone because the rules that allowed that banter have changed (yes, some banter went too far and was deemed flaming, but not all, and you take the good with the bad). Most of the people who created the banter have gone... but let's not get into the way things were--that's not what this is about.

How do we improve this? For me the simple reason I don't even try to have a laugh around these parts anymore is because I don't know most of you and when I try you just don't get me and are all offended because I didn't post a smiley face, a heart, or act like I am genuinly thrilled that in my online life I have you to grace my monitor--it's not gonna happen :-)yay::hrt: thank you for logging on today :awesome:). There's still the classics of Knowsbleed, Spoons, Bamf, Pickles, Erz, Hunter, Matt and many others... but not enough to drive a community. I have no idea who you people are anymore. Who are you? We need to be introduced. We need to remember we're coming on here to have fun and not to be angry fanboys that block people as soon as somone disagrees with our views. We need a game or two, yes, but we also need to be able to have some threads that are just for laughs and not be locked/deleted because they DON'T SERVE A PURPOSE. Some of the best threads I've posted in have been about absolutely f*** all. Or have started with a post about a toilet and then turned into hilarity.

So could we meet half way with the mods? If we behave could you cut us some slack? Also, some benefit of the doubt? I was in the Bat forums last week and spotted some fangirl in there that I have a laugh with and posted something about her being allowed in a boys forum and said I didn't realise that girls were allowed... five minutes later I was back in that thread, and yes, my post had been removed. This is ME. I used to get told I was a 'nice' poster, a 'friendly' poster. Now I'm having posts removed because some mod who doesn't know me is second guessing my intentions, rather than being personal and maybe sending me a message to gather some understanding. No, just shoot down posts and ask questions later, or not at all in this case. Stuff like that really f***s me off. Has any one poster round here EVER seen me flame or remotely flame? Has anyone ever seen me post snide remarks and directed at a specific person? I think the answer will be no. If the mod took the time to find things like this out, there would be no problem. So, yeh, I was pissed off.

We need to get a handle on who we are. How can you have a community if nobody knows each other?

But isn't the whole point of a community forum is to talk about members problems and whatnot, as well shoot the ****?

No one even wanted to participate in the last Deathmatch... until it was over.

I was thinking of also resurrection the Hotties Tournament, but that would no doubt be moved to the celebrities forum.

Sure, but make a thread about it. If your member has a problem then it'd be out of context and slightly random to talk about it in here.

And isn't there a Survivor going on right now? Why are the threads not taking over the community forum again?

Threads like this pop up every other month. Lots of complaining and that's cool. But only a handful of people actually try to do something about it. Yes, there may be certain things those in power can (and should) do, but the chances of them doing it are slim to none. So, as posters we need to take it upon ourselves to come up with ways we can change things. That's the part that fails each time.
