love the Mad world song in the trailer

I'll have to check out the trailer when I get home from work. I'm a slight fan of Romero's original so hopefully this is a decent remake of it.

The A-ha Mad world would have worked better.

Also looks pretty boring. Trailer makes it first look like "The Happening 2".

The following is how the studio describes the reinvention of the George Romero classic:

David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house…after locking his wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with guns and knives. Sheriff Dutton tries to make sense of what's happening as the horrific, nonsensical violence escalates. Something is infecting the citizens of Ogden Marsh... with insanity. Now complete anarchy reigns as one by one the townsfolk succumb to an unknown toxin and turn sadistically violent. In an effort to keep the madness contained, the government uses deadly force to close off all access and won't let anyone in or out – even those uninfected. The few still sane find themselves trapped: Sheriff Dutton; his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Dutton's deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get out of town alive.

I thought the trailer was good , it loosk intense in that car wash scene.

Huh, i didn't know the trailer was out. I knew the poster was. I'll have to check it out. I like Olyphants stuff.

Is the original worth checking? I never saw it.

Of course it is.

Alright. Some great things, some horrible things:

Great:
- People are actually crazier in this one. The original kept making me wish that more people went homicidal instead of drugged-out-hippie-cidal.

- First 'crazie' is a lot more interesting than in the original. Or at least, what they appear to have as the first 'crazie'.

- In the trailer, it makes it appear as there is more of a slow burn to full crazy unlike the original where it just went from zero to town messed up in a short span.

Horrible:
- What appears to be an action movie ending instead of the already amazing ending in the original.

- Too much of a 'zombie' look on the people. It was cooler in the original when you had to pay attention to people to know they were messed up, there was no 'look' to them at all.

- The song had me rolling my eyes. Hopefully their choices for the real movie are less... SLEDGEHAMMERING bad.

Thanks.

Really. It's just one of those moments where I think the director is about to walk into frame and just yell, "GET IT!?!?"

And those moments suck.

i see what your saying but i thought it was a nice touch

I enjoy the song, don't get me wrong. Maybe if they just kept it to the part where it says Mad World, or played an instrumental version... it wouldn't come off as cheesy.

it wasnt cheesy but i thought it was misplaced in the trailer, the flow didnt work together

I just searched and I couldn't find a thread for it (if one is found, please merge) well, anyways, I was watching the trailer just now and, it looks pretty good.

The Crazies is, I guess, a loosely based re-make of the George Ramero 70's film. Basically 28 Days Later in Ohio. Anyways, the trailer just came out and, I liked it, I was impressed. It gave a way a lot but still not too much.

Oh and it stars Timothy Olyphant.

here is the trailer:

OMG Its already begun! OH MY JESUS LORD CHRIST ON A CRACKER!!!!!!!!!!

i love that song, but i do agree that it kinda came outta no where at the end of the trailer.

Looks pretty good and I love Timothy, so I'll give it a watch.

I have to agree with Gilpesh in regards to preferring the crazies in the original film and how they look normal. It adds that bit of surprise just like in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. You might not know who is still normal until it's too late.

This film looks like it could be a decent remake but I think they should not have zombified the infected.

im trying to find the original film but no luck
