The "Critique The Critics!" Thread (MAJOR SPOILERS, ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK)

Most people right now on these boards are liking it, but it's still day one. We'll know how people feel overall by the weekend's end, probably...

I didn't mean his opinion on the movie. I mean the whole thing where everyone shat on him and said he obviously did not see the movie.

Since there's been so much said already, I'm not going to do a full review, but I just want to hit a couple spots that will be of interest to fans and that haven't been discussed too much yet:

Overall, it was entertaining and had a LOT of elements from the comics. The Surfer was AMAZING, just fun to look at and flawlessly executed.

. . . the acting and dialogue were painful at times, and the overall pacing was awkward(editing issues again?), and they never gave us a chance to think about the fact that the World was really ending. The characterizations were improved, but still seemed off. They still weren't quite the Fantastic Four . . . more like the Rally Special Four. The Baxter Building was much improved and pretty cool.

The BRIEF glimpses of Latveria and the castle were AWESOME! Right off the pages of a Kirby issue. Doom, while still horribly weak, was much improved and better than I was expecting (better than he was in the book, anyhow). Now with Latveria and his armor established there may be some hope for the future.

The stretching effects were pretty bad . . . probably worse than last time, but the Thing suit was a HUGE improvement. Still looked a little rubbery, but the rocks were much more defined, the brow was a little bigger and he looked much broader and closer to the shape he should be.

It seemed like the "cloud" was actually debris floating around Galactus' ship. There are tendrils made from rock-like materials that seem to act like gian vacuum cleaners pulling energy up to the central ship.

How interesting that Memphlix ran to AICN with his nasty review to try jumpstarting the hate wagon....only for the site's owner Harry Knowles himself to actually love this film.

Goes to show you should never assume you know how a critic will respond.

What an interesting conversation on Hype Mods we had going on here today. :)

Glad I missed it.

Where's his review at?

Please don't refer to them as a group of people. People don't like being lumped into groups like sheep. ;)

I also wanted to pay you the compliment that, your reviews are so well-written, smart, thorough and interesting that yours is really the only one I've been looking forward to reading.

Yeah I noticed that's like...a bad word here for the day.

Thanks WS. I want to see your thoughts on the film too. I will admit I specifically thought of you during certain scenes where it was painfully obvious they had bloated Benjamin's brow. At any rate, I gave the film a 7.5/10, but my review will be....erm, lengthy. So I apologize in advance. :p

I'm off to see it again tonight with friends.

So the general consensus from the last few threads seems to be giving this film a lot of praise. Why?

I honestly think this is the worst marvel movie so far. It's down there with Elektra and Man-thing.

It's comments like that that make you lose credibility. I can understand Elektra if that's how you feel but it's not down there with Man-Thing.

Acting and script was the same level as Man-Thing, and the direction in Man-Thing was less generic, and actually better!:wow: Not to mention a far better conclusion.

Fandango reviews are mostly all positive. Funny how people actually think different than the fanboys. Amazing that others don't share the same thoughts in a hivemind as the purists or so called critics who have rated most every film this year poorly.

I mean no offense, but...do you get off on being angry at people with diffferent opinions? If lots of people love or hate the movie, that shouldn't change your viewing experience. It's called "differing opinions". Or is this because bad reviews might change the almighty box office?

I'm not trying to be confrontational; just wondering.

Okay Im going to have to agree with AD  ...Its just weird that you think this is worse than man-thing, did we see the same movie?...the one released direct to video about a charecter most people dont seem to care for.

 ...rule of thumb, nothing is worse than man-thing...except for uwe boll movies ;)

You had to have liked 300 & Shooter. Those have been my two favorites this year. Loved Spidey 3 too.

300, cool fight sequences, although the dialogue was so non-existent, just a few big speeches. Trying to go for cool, which is was in places, yet on the whole, it was boring, no character development or anything.

Didn't see the shooter, the trailer put me off. And Spidey three, well the problems of that have been voiced over the whole of the SHH many times.

The best film this year is "The Fountain" so far.

Agree 3000%!! And it's not that people are angry towards people with different opinions but the truth is, people are blowing the Galactus thing out of proportions. Truth is, some people hated this movie before it even came out.

How so? Offer up your arguement, better FX does not mean better movie. Try character development and more original direction and some actual dialogue, rather than one cliche stereotype line after another.

Why does the surfer like sue.... oh, let me think what he's about to say........ C'mon, it's the most predicatable script ever, you can predict it line for line, and direction? DIRECTION? "oh, let's have the standard, 'evil badguy looking up with his new grasp of power'", and the choice of locations, wow.....we've never seen that place before:huh:
