It was so damn terrible. Not that I think the original is some classic. But lord.

So yeah I still enjoyed this movie a good bit upon re-watch. There are some silly things in there (if you were immortal after a deal with devil, why would you look like a guy in his 60's?) but Skarsgard carries the movie on his shoulders and makes you root for him throughout. I found the love story quite touching as well and some of the imagery in the movie is nice to look at.

I thought their choice for purgatory was quite interesting. And again I love how they went into the spiritual stuff here like Hell, etc.

It will never touch the original, but I do like this version of the story.
