The Curse of Chucky

The little girl's part was my favorite
"Chucky, I'm afraid"-"You f*** should be" was the best reveal he's had in any of the movies so far. And just showing a lump under the covers afterwards was really creepy. Though, I'd prefer that they cut out her scene in the end. Having that lump in the covers be the last we see of her would be REALLY creepy

I think the part went something like this: "Chucky I'm scared." He started laughing then said "Are you F****ing kidding me?" because of the thunderstorm.

Well that's what I get for not watching movies with a clear head. I rewrite them to be better :o

Hm, not on any of my Comcast OnDemand options, and it isn't out until the 8th. How did you guys end up seeing it...unless it was by other means we can't discuss here.:o

So has anyone heard whether or not this is planned to be the last movie? I'm really hoping it isn't. I've always kind of wanted a movie in which Chucky finally gets to leave the doll. They could even do it off screen so that the audience doesn't realize until the climax.

BTW, what would happen to the person he transfers himself into? Would Andy have ceased to exist, been trapped in his body while Chucky was "behind the wheel" or switched into the now empty doll?

Spoilers:
[BLACKOUT]
He transferred himself into the girl at the end and the writer has stated that if another is made it will be in the six months before he goes to Andy's.[/BLACKOUT] Or so I read.

Ohhhh, see I just assumed he failed with the little girl. That sounds cool though. I'm going to go ahead and guess that little girl's body isn't "right" for Chucky, so he has to go after Andy. I just hope Alex Vincent doesn't come back. Just from that stinger scene I could tell he'd drag a movie down with horrible acting

i was thinking to myself that Chucky is like a less competent version of the killer in 'Fallen.'

just finished watching it today, i thought it was really good, alot better than seed
loved how it tied into the original movie

I really enjoyed this one, I was pleasantly surprised. My only major problem was that you could instantly tell when Chucky was going to do something since they had the face change. And at one point, the face looked very awkward. Some of the effects didn't look too great. Otherwise, it was really well shot, some nice cinematography. Fiona Dourif is a damn fine actress, Brad Dourif was good as always, the music was very nice, and I liked the little callbacks to the original films. I think I'm giving this one an 8/10, second favorite Chucky film behind CP2.

Definitely in the Top 3 films for me.

They answered a big question in the series [BLACKOUT](why was Detective Norris was chasing him at the beginning of Child's Play)[/BLACKOUT], but they also raised a few more [BLACKOUT](where is Glen and Glenda; what led him to reunite with Tiffany?[/BLACKOUT]).

But yeah. I really enjoyed this. It was the first horror oriented film in the series since 3, and it REALLY needed to return to that.

I thought the effects were good. Not that much better than what we got in Seed, but definitely not worst.

I loved the reveal of the [BLACKOUT]stitches. It really explained why his face looked so odd beforehand. After he ripped those makeshift prosthetics off, he looked like he did in the last 2 movies. And honestly, stitched together Chucky is visually more frightening than normal looking Chucky[/BLACKOUT].

I'll give this a 8.5., tying it with Child's Play for 2nd, putting it behind Child's Play 2.

This actually succeeded in making me excited for more films.

P.S. Was I the only one who liked that [BLACKOUT]they brought back Alex Vincent as Andy?[/BLACKOUT] If so, at least it showed [BLACKOUT]that, at some point, he returns to his doll body. Perhaps they pull a switcharoo after every murder.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]He's gonna make us wait to see another movie with the return of Andy?!! Dammit....[/BLACKOUT]

Not bad, but the pacing is certainly off. Suspenseful slow-burn horror really only works if you care for the characters, but here they're pretty much cannon-fodder which = unnecessary build-up to see disposable characters die in not-terribly-creative ways (I did enjoy one death near the end).

For its budget the movie looked fine. It definitely felt "small" in that way where you can watch something on the Sy-Fy channel and immediately tell it was filmed in Canada, though CP isn't known for its production values.

And yes, Chucky does look "off" for a while, but there is (I think) an explanation (by which I mean, there is a reveal showing why this Good Guy doll looks different, but - as the difference only shows when he's "alive" and not just being the doll - I'm inclined to think it might just be the result of a poor sculpt or animatronics, like how the Ninja Turtles looked so off in Part 3 after the filmmakers stopped using the Jim Henson Company).

About the ending:

The impression I got was that the body transfer did work even though we didn't get the usual cloud effects to go with it (I have no idea what that jump-scare to the girl's grandmother (her dad's mom? A foster parent?) was meant to mean, other than they didn't know how to end the scene. Wasn't she in the cellar? Did she crawl up? Just weird editing there).

As for Andy: on first-blush, I did think it was the girl (trapped in Chucky's body) that he shoots, assuming that she'd turn to Andy for help in lifting the spell, since where the hell else is a little girl stuck in the mangled body of a plastic doll gonna go? Of course, that'd be pretty savvy for an 8 year-old, so yes, it was likely Chucky, which leads me to believe the body transfer worked, and his intent was to use the unassuming human form of the little girl to get closer to a more suitable adult (say, a police officer or foster dad, etc) so that he and Tiffany could be together.

(Which begs the question of why he didn't just body-swap with one of the several males who ended up at that house, but I really can't recall the mythology that well regarding whether he can take over an adult's body.)

This should've been the actual ending to the franchise. Plus, no more movies.

I wish this thread had a poll on it just watched Curse of Chucky last night and was not only entertained but actually impressed, much much better than Seed or Bride imo and brought it back to the basics of the original which is my favorite of the series. I didn't really care for the ending all that much and the cameo but I understand the film is connecting the whole series together.

8.5/10-very good atmosphere and surpringly good suspense-

I'm having trouble watching this movie actually. I've turned it on like three times but I stop after 10-15 minutes or so just cuz my childhood memories come back to haunt me lol.

^ That's actually pretty awesome to hear, I do think they made some great improvements to the doll and how they lit it in this film, I think Chucky is the creepiest he's ever been.

my copy just showed up in the mail. i'm quite excited.

one of my cousins was like that, at one point. but then i bought her a replica Chucky doll as a birthday present. she refused to touch it. so i had to keep hiding it in random places to scare her. now she likes it enough to let her kid sleep with it.

I liked this movie. It's my 3rd favorite after 2 and 1, and I'm very pleased they went back to the roots, tone-wise.
Also, I think they were pretty smart in the way they treated it like a reboot, but it was actually a decent follow up -mostly ignoring Bride and Seed-.
