They definatley bring back Chucky to his darker roots, I did jump within the first 10 minutes of the film (which hasn't happend to me at all with any of the chucky movies except when I was a kid with one of the originals) so I knew it would be superior to "Seed." We don't get any information as to why Chucky mails himself to that mansion to kill everybody until the end (he kind of does a supervillain-y monologue complete with flashbacks, and the plot was kind of lame IMO). This is definately a sequel to "Seed" but he doesn't mention Glen, but he DOES make reference to the families he has messed with ("The Barkleys, The Tillys," etc.) and his scars ARE covered up and get peeled away by a character after noticing the latex that was covering the scars was starting to wear away. So no, his kills don't have any effect on the way he looks. We do get to see the human form of Charles Lee Ray, but only in flashbacks. The rumor where he successfully does a soul transfer is false, although we are lead to believe he does at the end before the credits roll. BUT...as you will see with the golden nugget ending after the credits, he is still trapped inside the doll lol. That scene was worth the entire movie. Jennifer Tilly does appear at the end (obviously still"possessed" by his bride as we seen at the end of "Seed." It's a fun few scenes.) This is by far WAY better than "Seed." There are parts where you just had to laugh, but it wasn't unintentional. Pretty suspensful, Chucky has been brought back to his original scary nature.
Unless Mancini decides to make a musical (like he planned after "Seed."). Then Chucky will be screwed.
I'd give it a 7/10.
