I don't know if Joe was the original Nightingale as such. I didn't understand it that way. I think he might've just killed his wife, but wasn't necessarily a serial killer (and therefore the one called the "Nightingale"). He did, after all, continually protest his innocence at having murdered all those women.
I think his son was the original Nightingale serial killer with the one given that name. He was old enough even back in 1996, and that's why he ran away at the docks when Frank showed up there with the sister. He thought that Frank was onto him and after him.
Also, I'm guessing the reason the serial killer is called "the Nightingale" killer is because he kills nurses, and it's referencing Florence Nightingale?
The original murder of Joe's wife must've affected the son, seeing the dead body, the hands tied in a rosary, and then being forced to dispose of the body somewhere with his father. So he probably started killing when he was an adult (which he was in 1996).
And he had all those photos of Julie back in 96 as well, meaning he was the one stalking her. I don't know why Julie is now alive in 2016 though. Wouldn't the son/ brother have tried to kill her back then, especially since he's been invited into their home and knows where they live?
I think this is what he'll try to do next week. She'll invite him in because he'll show up pretending to look for Frank or something. Then her life will be in danger. And he'll probably show up in 2016 as well, trying to kill Julie at the same time or trying to kill Raimy. Then perhaps both Frank and Raimy will be forced to fight and kill him and save Julie.
As soon as the son/ brother showed up (especially when Raimy was talking to him while in hospital), I suspected he might be the real Nightingale. My suspicions were further confirmed when Frank showed up at the dock and he ran away.
But why doesn't Raimy try to save her dad from that car accident too so that she can have both her parents in 2016? Does she only want her mother back?
