Yes, you read the title of this thread correctly. It is not a thread for the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. starring Keanu Reeves, but instead, it is dedicated to the blatant DTV rip-off of said film. Heres the trailer for this cinematic waste:

I was at Blockbuster the other day and I happened upon this film. After fighting off the urge to vomit profusely, several things came to mind.
First of all, can someone please enlighten me as to how this company avoids lawsuits for this type of garbage? Do major studios just ignore it because they know that companies who make these films (these idiots were behind a few other recent films with titles that sound suspiciously familiar: Death Racers, AVH: Alien Vs. Hunter, TRANSMORPHERS, and my personal favorite, Snakes on a Train). I know weve discussed these ridiculous films before on these boards, but I feel that it is necessary to keep bringing them up. Perhaps if enough people complain, then someone will file a lawsuit and take these idiots down. It shouldnt be very hard Collectively, these movies look like they were made on a budget of less than Space Chimps made on its opening weekend.
Second, is there anyone out there who seriously WATCHES these movies? I mean, I can understand if youre bored on a Saturday afternoon and you turn on the sci-fi channel and find yourself laughing your ass off at the bad special effects. But who would actually pay money to rent one of these turds? DVD rentals arent expensive, but still
Finally, this film represents a new low in the careers of two fallen Brat Pack icons. C. Thomas Howell and Judd Nelson (who looks a lot like Kevin Smith these days) both appear in this film. Whats worse, Howell actually DIRECTED it! Apparently since the days of The Outsiders and The Hitcher, Howell has made a name for himself as the go-to guy for these types of movies. As for Nelson, I dont know whats happened to him over the past 10 or 20 years but I doubt Ill ever be able to watch The Breakfast Club again after learning of his recent choices in film.
The only thing that needs to be Stopped is this company before the produce anymore films.
