So I was just thinking about the lineup DC has for their upcoming films (I visited WB Studios the other day and it got me in the mood for DC :woot: ). What does everyone make of the order for these films? I'm gonna use a Marvel analogy right here; so we have:

Phase 1

- Man of Steel: The start, the epicenter of the DCCU
- Dawn of Justice: Dealing with the fallout of MOS
- Suicide Squad: Possibly set-up by MOS; maybe Lex's initial plan to be the hero in DoJ fails and he resorts to hiring a squad of villains in another attempt to gain power
- Wonder Woman: I have a hard time connecting this to SS, but it could easily act as DC's Thor and be the primary set-up for Justice League
- Justice League

Phase 2

- Aquaman
- The Flash
- Man of Steel 2/Batman 1 (extra calendar space is available in the winter of 2018 so I think this is a viable spot)
- Shazam
- Justice League 2

Phase 3

- Man of Steel 2/Batman 1 (extra calendar space is available in the winter of 2019 so I think this is a viable spot)
- Cyborg
- Green Lantern

Obviously it is way too far ahead to concretely speculate on Phases 2 and 3, so I just decided to stop after Phase 1. What do you guys think DC's plan is, in terms of story, to connect this diverse group of films together? Or will they opt for a different strategy entirely? Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Wonder Woman will/HAS to have Steve Trevor. Hence, A.R.G.U.S. or Justice League of America. I'm not saying they will go or use the complete New 52 route, but that's the best I got they can go with this.

As with the Marvel films I think we should face the facts that these films are not being made to recreate the books at the level of exactitude that some seem to think. The MCU and their films are not recreations of the books. A lot changes. So until we get a better view as to what actually is being done with the DCCU and the characters I think we should keep more an open mind than assuming anything at this point. Obviously there will be tons of influences from the various eras of these characters, but nothing I think will have supremacy, that includes the current books.

I am not expecting recreations nor do I want them. Of course there will be influence, to me that is the only thing I draw upon to connect Wonder Woman within the DCCU and build up the universe and Justice League. If someone has a better pitch, I'm all ears it's just that's the only one I can come up with.

Wonder Woman's connection to Suicide Squad, that's easy enough.

-Steve Trevor.
-Amanda Waller/ARGUS.
-Maybe some kind of nod to Aquaman/Atlantis.

I'm really not impressed with this new direction DC is going with Batman..

I've never been a fan of Ben Affleck, so the idea of him playing Batman doesn't sit well with me.

Bats new costume is awful, and the new Bat symbol looks laughably bad.

And Wonder Woman.. A comic-book is one thing, but I don't think a character like her can work in a dramatic live action movie. She's a half naked woman in a goofy and flamboyant outfit. I can't take her seriously.

And what's with Superman having a group of armed Soldiers? He's totally okay with guys killing in his name? Whaaat?

Anyway, onto Suicide Squad.. I think this movie looks good. The special effects and cinematography look better than BvS, and it's Harley and Killer Croc's big-screen debut, so it gets points for that.

But man, Joker looks awful. Leto is not right for the part, IMO. With Ledger and Hamill, I felt intimidated by them. I believed they were capable of turning Batman's life upside-down.

With Leto, I just see a punk kid acting like he's all tough and badass. Leto is trying way too hard to sound scary, instead of it coming off naturally like Ledger did with the role. "I'm not gonna kill you, i'm just gonna hurt ya, really REALLY bad!" Ugh.

Why did Nolan have to leave? It's like an unspoken rule that every film series has to be a trilogy. With a character like Batman, there is enough material to draw from that Nolan could've done 10 Batman films if he wanted.

Conversly to other posts here, I really couldn't be happier with the direction, feel, approach of the DCCU. Each decision made thus far and the films spread out across the next few years I believe will be of the highest quality.

Sad to say but I still don't think we have been given a great Batman film yet. Nolans first two films were good (one of my favorite CBM moments is the interrogation scene with Batman and the Joker in TDK) but the 3rd movie got Batman all wrong.

I am not sure about Afflecks suit but I do like the cape and cowl better. However all my hopes and dreams were dashed with the introduction of this joke of a Joker. The best villain ever turned into something that looks like a drugged out thug. I've said it before the trailed and I'll say it again. Looks like they got confused and mixed up the Joker and Victor Zsasz.

So much potential wasted. Someone at DC should just finance Bat in the Sun and let them take a Crack at it.

Maybe Lex is the big coherent thing in the DCU, if he ran for President and be a huge schemer behind the scenes. That would be awesome. If they didn't have any rush then DKR would have been a perfect end to the DCU in 5 years from now.

Does everything have to be connected? I'd rather the solos explore their respective heroes' slice of the universe and the JL tie those slices together. They don't need to build up to the Justice League if they build the characters the audience will come back.

I really hope we get an announcement at the next comic con in San Diego about Man of Steel 2. I am hopeful on a few things in the film i.e. Brainiac, link to the Phantom Zone, return or Faora and Emil Hamilton, etc
