The Director of Flash is...

Whats this I hear about the losers of the race for the role of Captain America being up for The Flash?

They are two completely different characters!

Come on, DC. Screw your head on straight. You're casting for The Flash, not Captain America.

And why would we want someone who wasn't good enough for Captain America anyway? We don't need Marvel's leftovers.

It's not that they're just picking from Captain America's left overs. It has more to do with these guys being the front runners vying for superhero roles and therefore are being considered for parts from multiple studios and productions.

What exactly has this guy directed? I can't find any damn info on anything he's done.

Yeah, I can see Barry being funny in a more awkward way but has down to earth sense of humor (ala Paul Rudd) or even Jim from the Office.

speaking of which Mr. Potential Captain America himself, John Krasinski, could be a good Barry if he doesn't get CA.
They'd have to put a real good cast around him. IMO I find him to be a rather bad actor, and is only funny in the situation that the other actors around him play off of.

Looks like just the writer of Green Lantern(well, really like one of many writers of green lantern).

I really like Krasinski, but I just don't see it when it comes to him playing any of these parts. But again, Reeve was a skinny blonde when he landed Superman. I'm not a casting director for obvious reasons I guess. :woot:

I kinda feel happy for Greg Berlanti. He put in all the groundwork for Green Lantern, but ultimately got the movie taken out of his hands because, despite getting plenty of credit for being a stellar ideas man, he was deemed lacking in the experience necessary to handle such a big film, and sent off to do a smaller WB film to get experience. Evidently, he's now done that film, so now he's deemed ready for the big dance - and this is his thanks for being a good company man and giving his GL baby to Martin Campbell.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I think he deserves the shot and shows a genuine enthusiasm towards these characters. Granted that's not everything, but I wouldn't consider him some nobody that won't have a clue what he's doing. Especially with all the people that will surround these productions. Trial by fire maybe, but sometimes that brings out the best in someone's craft.

He directed a film 10 years ago, The Broken Hearts Club, then worked in TV, where he's exec produced Everwood, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, and Brothers & Sisters. He's recently returned to film directing and is in post-production on Life as We Know It (starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel).

Although his work has certainly all had elements of comedy, he has a firmer grounding in drama than Shawn Levy or David Dobkin, the last two directors attached to The Flash.

Since Berlanti and Bradley Cooper didn't get Green Lantern, how about Berlanti to direct and Cooper as the Flash?

I could see them casting Cooper. I could also see them going with Scott Porter, who's been near the top of their superhero casting list for awhile now, and has particularly been talked about for Flash.

i know that Scott Porter is a geek and all, but would he get so much support from fans if he wasn't a geek?

He has the right look for a number of superhero parts, and he has good acting chops from what I've seen, so I don't see why not.

What happened to David Dobkin?
The same thing that happens to a lot of directors who are attached to projects: it doesn't work out - for any number of reasons - and they move on to something else.

WB and DC kicked everybody off of the other DC projects. any scripts, producers and directors. yes Joel Silver is off Wonder Woman too.

They reclaimed a number of projects - including Wonder Woman from Joel Silver and The Flash from Charles Roven - but they left others in the hands of the producers who have been developing them over the years. Silver, for example, is still developing Lobo, Swamp Thing, and Sgt. Rock.

I can se them going with Porter or Cooper honestly. Or Krasinski.

I'd like it to be Scott Porter as well. If not him than Jensen Ackles.

John Krasinski would be much better for Flash than Captain America.

Now all we need is directors for Superman (soon) and Wonder Woman and it's on.

I was hoping for some WW-related news rather than Flash news, but any DC-related news is good. Berlanti seems like an odd choice (given Campbell replaced him as director of GL), but I'll give him a shot.

Now, give me the writer and director selected for WW and I'll be happy as a clam.
