they could but they still haven't made a decent and/or successful movie after The Matrix.

While some of its story elements were widely disliked, The Matrix Reloaded was a huge box office success ($742 million worldwide). The box office dropped off substantially for The Matrix Revolutions, but it still scored a hefty (and profitable) $427 million worldwide. The sequels have much to criticize, but they also have some amazing set pieces.

As for Speed Racer, it wasn't successful and a lot of people didn't like it, but personally I loved.

Yeah, their follow-up films to The Matrix have met with divided opinion rather than near-unanimous praise. I think there could be a lot of good stuff to come from them, though.

i personally dont care who it is as the director. But i hope it actually happens this time. Yes we are probably looking at about 2 or so years before we will actually get it on screens. If we get into the prep/production stage. But i am crossing fingers it just doesnt get placed in the nowhere pile again.

I just 'cast' Alan Tudyk as Flash in the other thread, but if it's true that Berlanti is director then there's actually a couple of guys that he's already worked with that fit really well. Jonny Lee Miller (ELI STONE) could be a great Barry, and the same for Gregory Smith (EVERWOOD) as Wally.

well i am sure if greg does end up as the director and we get into casting/production stage. Greg would probably like to have some folks he worked in the past with test/nab roles in the film.

'77 Sunset Strip' On Its Way At Warner Bros

Warner Bros is dusting off its classic TV series 77 Sunset Strip, and turning it into a hip period feature. The film will be directed by Greg Berlanti, the Green Lantern writer who is previewing part of his new film, Life As We Know It, at ShoWest. Stephen Chin is in talks to write the script. Berlanti will produce with author A. Scott Berg and Kevin McCormick, through the latter’s Warner-based Langley Park shingle.


The series ran from 1958-1964 and personified cool, from the catchy theme song to the ruggedly handsome detectives -- played by Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith. They worked from stylish offices between La Cienega and Alta Loma. Though the address doesn’t really exist, the headquarters sat next to the Dean Martin-owned club Dino’s. The detectives' cars were retrieved by Kookie Kookson (played by Edd Byrnes), a hip valet parking attendant who became a cultural phenomenon and had every kid copying his trademark move of running a comb through his hair.

saw the news the other day. Probably will be filming this later this year. And if flash does get off the ground probably wont be filming to next yr if they want a 2012 release for flash.

I'm not sure if calling Berlanti a novice is completely accurate. It's probably fair in saying he's a novice at directing actors on set, making camera choices, etc. OTOH, given his showrunner experience, he certainly isn't a novice at developing scripts and selecting cast and crew.

The fact that he's attached to 77 Sunset Strip suggests that his movie in post-production appears to be promising since the execs will have a good idea on how it actually turned out.

ShoWest: Rumored Flash Director Berlanti Isn't Committed To Anything

A few weeks ago we heard rumors that Warner Bros. long-gestating Flash movie may be finally off and running with a director. Word was that Greg Berlanti was the top contender to helm the superhero picture. Now a few weeks later, it sounds like there’s still no firm commitment for him to direct The Flash.

In fact Berlanti wouldn’t even comment on the rumors that he might be in the running for the film. But tonight at ShoWest he did tell us that he's not committed to do anything until after he finishes his current movie, Life As We Know It. That means, if indeed he’s really in talks to direct it at all, work on The Flash would have to wait until late this year. Life As We Know It isn’t due to be released until December. The Flash maybe off and running at Warner Bros, but if Berlanti really is directing, he’s not running very fast yet.

The Flash set for 2012, with Batman 3?

While nothing is officially on the calendar yet, I’ve heard in 2012 we’re getting not only a new Batman movie…but The Flash! I’ve heard the studio is currently talking to directors and they’ll announce who it is when they’ve found the right choice. Again, The Flash isn’t confirmed, but I’m telling you, it’s the next new superhero movie at Warner Bros. and we’re going to hear about it soon.

The flash seems like its had the most development in terms of the script compared to wonder woman and superman so it wouldnt surprise me if it was the next in line.

yea if flash is indeed going to be released for spring/summer/fall 2012 period they will have to get to production stage in late spring/early summer 2011 to make a 2012 release. So we should be hearing more by the end of the season.

it depends on the schedule because I think he's working on a comedy with Danny McBride. However..it's always possible that it'll be in development hell unless it gets fast tracked.

If WB is smart, they'll go to a guy like Ruben. besides, he fits The Flash more than..Mission Impossible 4. Kinda random if you ask me.
