I havent seen this posted anywhere but I saw two thing yesterday that got my spider sense tingling. 1) Disney now has the rights to distribute the Marvel Movies and 2) The Tron Marvel covers where several marvel heroes are Tron-ifyed

Whats everyones take on these things?

Which covers are you referring too?
Ultimate Thor was glowing before Disney had Marvel.

1. Disney is rightfully distributing The Avengers and Iron Man 3 considering that they own those movies to begin with (Disney got over 90% of the money from Iron Man 2 anyways) and are putting up the money for those movies. Hopefully Disney will reclaim the rights to Daredevil and Fantastic Four and work with Sony on Spider-Man (**** Fox and the X-Men though :().

2. Those Tron covers are awesome. I hope they announce some Tron covers for the Deadpool books.

3. I honestly believe that Disney will end up buying Boom eventually and use the Boom label solely for Disney comics and other all ages titles.

Tron Ghost Rider actually looks pretty sweet.

The ASM one looks the same as the new costume. The IM and Quicksilver ones could actually work for those 2 in the comics. The Thor one has an Ultimate Thor feel to it.

I never saw Tron so I'm indifferent to the upcoming sequel.

Not too bad! I like them.

Disney hasn't had any noticeable effect on the quality of the comics, so I don't care either way. Those themed variant covers are kind of fun, too. :)

There's a green and black one floating around, too. It looks hilariously terrible. :)

when will Marvel learn that Spider-man's suit can not be changed

I have no problem with Disney promoting their movies on covers. Marvel has always had a relationship with promotional items.

Hell we wouldn't have had comics like ROM, Micronauts, Transformers, GI JOE, and Star Wars if it weren't for promotional tie ins.

As long as the stories don't turn into obvious infomercials <unless it's Deadpool> then I'm O.K.

Oh.. and what? We don't get a Tron'ed up Fantasticar?

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I don't mind them changing it now and then. It's fun to have variant suits for fighting Electro or whatever. But that one just looks crappy, especially with the neon green.

I hope never. I like when they come up with variants, even the bad ones. Actually, especially the bad ones.....(I'm lookin' at you, Spider-Armour!)

Spider-Armor from Web of Spider-Man 100?! That was awesome! Lasted about 5 seconds, but it was still fun to see.

That's what I mean. Some are so fun because they're bad. I would love to see if anyone ever made a spider-armour for a convention. I'm willing to bet someone has...

I actually like those Tron covers. I may pick up the Cap if they're 50/50 and my shop gets them, since that's the only series of that I get.

My google-fu isnt strong enough to find anyone cosplaying in the Spider-armor. Tron covers look sick though.

In additional "Disney owns them" tidbits, is that Marvel will be providing art for ESPN MAGAZINE, including from Joe Quesada himself. Disney is the parent company behind ESPN. Marvel in interviews makes it sound like it will be a wonderful cross promotional opportunity, but Marvel said that about NFL SUPERPRO in the 90's. The fact of the matter was, Disney wanted it done, and it got done. You'll notice that this art for ESPN was NOT late; even artists who take 15 months to draw a splash panel magically got this done on schedule. You can tell comic book suckers that "quality takes time" when a middling Ultimate comic runs 7 months late, but you get behind on Don Micky? You get buried deeper than racist Jim Crow era animation.

Disney I think is interested in Marvel's media; TV in particular and films in general. I don't think they care a whole lot about the comic book side of things. After all, if Disney cared about Marvel not exhausting their franchises in comic books, Marvel wouldn't be releasing four X-Men titles (which doesn't include NEW MUTANTS or UNCANNY X-FORCE), three Wolverine titles (which doesn't include titles for X-23 and Daken), four Avengers titles (not including anthologies or mini's), and 3-4 Deadpool titles. If anything, Marvel has been spamming many of their franchises even worse since their deal with Disney was announced in '09 and inked in 2010. Disney by and large avoids the print medium in America, so in that area Marvel is likely allowed to do as they please. Of course, the bonus of Marvel having some comic licenses from Disney like TRON doesn't hurt.
