The DVD Thread

I don't have a HD tv or DVD player. Will it still play on my equipment? TIA

The Blu-Ray or HD-DVDs will not, if that's what you're asking.

And has it been confirmed whether the HD versions will be the 1 or 2 disc set?

As a matter of fact, YES, the HD DVD disc WILL work in a regular DVD player, since it's a Combo Disc. That means it's double-sided with one side being the HD DVD and the other side being regular DVD. So you could actually buy it on release day, play it in your regular DVD player (in standard definition, of course) and then whenever you're ready to jump into the HD world, you can play your already-owned copy of "300" in your HD DVD player and watch it in glorious High-Definition!

...Blu-ray does not offer this possibility. :)

Wow, Venomfan, what the heck were you expecting? This flick had more violence than I've seen in a mainstream film in a long time!

And to answer my own question (for anyone else who was wondering the same thing), the HD editions should include everything from the 2 disc, including some possible features that are TBD.

Yet it's still selling better. :o

Ok, 300 had as much juice as that.

Great show (at times), but you get 40 minutes of gab every 3 episodes before you got to pullo and vorinus kicking a$$ for 3 minutes.

BTW Panophobia- where did you hear about Blue-ray selling better? I know it's got a few more titles, but the players themselves have some serious issues.

that ROME scene is waaaay gorier then anything in 300, there was nothing really stomach turning like Vorenus shoving that mace down the guys back, or slicing his knee so that his bone starts falling out. 300 had lots of blood flying around, but you rarely saw where it came from

i have the DVD already.. its amazing watching it at home

and no its not bootleg or cam quality its real deal...but its just the movie :(

I bought a bootleg copy in Marrakech back in March. I got home and it was dubbed in French with no sub titles.

^ Definitely. I wonder if there will be special edition covers or just one standard one.

how much will the hd/dvd combo cost...?all i have is regular dvd right now, but if its not too much i wanna get it so when i upgrade later i wont have to rebuy

I wish the 2-Disk cover was like the 1-Disk cover. The loyalists get screwed with bad boxart again!

Oh well.

Found the 1-disc dvd at a store called CD Trader. Geeked out and bought it on the spot. Will get the 2-disc when released, but man, it was awesome finding it.

LOL. And I thought I had it bad. My bootleg is in the original English, but had annoying Chinese sub-titles. :woot:
