The Eurovision thread

I miss the Polish dairy farmers from 2 years ago. My Queens!

I like how this year's theme is "diversity" but 95% of the songs is in English.

They sing in English so they can understand each other.

Yeah, right.

There has to be a reason why the top songwriters stay away from Eurovision. The pay is probably ****.

It's also massively uncool, which is part of the appeal.

I think it's cool! All the fashions and fun and the incredible beats. Love it. Favourite time of my year

What you think of Yulia Samoylova Silvermoth?

She was the one who got the chop right? I feel sorry for her but rules are rules. It's a shame though because I would have liked to hear her sing.

I never listen to anyone before the event though except Australia because I want the surprise

Yes,that is her. Russia/Ukraine travel issues got her banned from the contest sadly.

So you've never heard her sing?

Never. But since she's not in the comp maybe I should have a listen? It's unlikely she will appear on the official soundtrack

Ok I listened to it and I like it but it's a bit slow. I think after Ukraine won last year everyone wanted to do a ballad but there might be a few too many of them in this year. Just my opinion though

True,a ballad is a riskier type of song to go for in this comp but did wonder what an outside of EU viewpoint of her was.

Who do you feel has strongest chance of the finalists now?

Moldova
Azerbaijan
Greece
Sweden
Portugal
Poland
Armenia
Australia
Cyprus
Belgium

I mean watching the finalists on Friday. Can't wait will let you know! Anyway, who's your favourite?

Cool!!

My favourite is Nathan Trent from Austria

Well Austria is out.

Leaving Italy,France,Ukraine,Germany and UK.

It's a shame Montenegro left. I hated the song but I love the craziness.

It's a shame Latvia didn't go through. I really enjoyed them. In fact I often enjoy latvia's entries

Looking at the odds, the favorites to win seems to be in this order at the moment

1. Portugal
2. Italy
3. Bulgaria
4. Belgium
5. Sweden

Random. Personally I don't see what makes Italy so popular but whatever, I think having Eurovision in Italy next year would be wonderful!

Lucie Jones can really sing now. She has come a long way.

Portugal's song was so bad. How the heck do these crappy song keep getting points?

I absolutely loved Macedonia though. What a shame she didn't get through. And San Marino deserved to get through too

-It was sung in Portugal's language, instead of being yet another one being sung in english;
-It was one of the most heartfelt out of all the Eurovision songs this year;
-Was a breath of fresh air among all the "wanna be American" songs that mostly played like low rent The Weekend (looking at sweden);
-It actualy was realy good. In what way did you find it crappy?

Portugal song was definitely not better than the other contenders.

Australia even had a way better song and performer in Isiah Firebrace though Italy was not a winning peformance either.

Running butt man was annoying.

Moldova sure loves Sax pop :)

Nick Helm tried to enter for the UK last year and got rejected.

Salvador wasn't exactly the best performer because his medical condition is realy bad. He can barely walk sometimes. And frankly, Firebrace's song was pretty generic.
