In other news, there was a Canada wide petition to try and de-restrict the AR-15 across the country.

They got about 25,000 signatures and the government basically said "Hah. No."

The Government thanks these petitioners for their representations. The Government is committed to putting decision-making authority about weapons classification back into the hands of police, not politicians.

Blah blah blah

The Government has no intention of using section 117.15 of the Criminal Code to change the classification of the AR-15

So that's an interesting thing. Wonder what the NRA would say about that.
