I found Jet, Spike and Faye really likable. Ed and Ein were pretty funny. And the show knew how to write some great villains in Vicious, Mad Pierrot, and Londes with his bit about not wanting to go away.

It's a wonderfully stylish show though even in watching it with the original Japanese voice cast... I don't know... For myself, as much as I enjoyed it and agree it deserves the plaudits it gets, I also felt a... Coldness? Detachment maybe? I know ennui is a big part of the show itself but I sometimes felt very removed from them emotionally, and so much of the characters stories are built on what should be deeply emotional issues. Again... I REALLY like the show but I can't say I was as emotionally invested or engaged as I would have liked. It seems to have worked for you on that level though so that's all that matters.

I felt that to a certain extent with Spike. It wasn't until the final two episodes that he clicked with me. Looking back at episodes building to it, I can see how the choice in plots tied into the theme of pasts and new beginnings.

edit: You aren't wrong, though, about feeling removed. Its very subjective. I went through a fantasy series that came recommended from the thrones fandom (for me it was like pulling teeth, all said and done). This series had a theme of "home isn't place. Its a people and time. When that's gone, its not really home anymore." I kinda picked up on this in Bebop's later episodes too - except, for whatever reason, it resonated more with me in Bebop than the fantasy series I'd slogged through.

Why? Because I never logged on? It's just that I don't go on this site nearly as much as I used to and I'm thankful for that.

As for going to Pakistan, I don't know if I'm going to be going for quite some time. My dad thought he wasted money the last time I went because I didn't enjoy it much.
