(Obviously the easy money of making a film based on a popualr cartoon, but bare with me...)

Why on earth was the Flintstones film in live action, when it tried to be as much of a cartoon as possible? It had cartoon physics, cartoon visuals, the actors mimicked the cartoon characters.....it's nonsensical.

I think it's possible to make an intresting, funny film based on The Flintstones, and stay faithful to the cartoon, but it would have to be a film, and not a film that wants to be a cartoon.

Say what you will about the film itself, but there's no use denying it:

John Goodman was perfect as Fred Flintstone.

That being said, I have never seen it. I remember wanting to see it back in 1994, and my dad took me to the theatre but it was sold out. I threw a huge temper tantrum and went home.

I thought it was a very decent attempt. I liked it as a child. It doesn't hold up as well for me now, but then again, neither does the cartoon. The only miscasts were Wilma and Betty. Maybe the kids, too.

I really liked the sets and props, though. And the dinosaurs were pretty cool, too. I like Dino's design.

Well, my theory is that they wanted to make a Flintstones movie. To help it make money, they wanted big names. Just having them as voice artists wouldn't draw people, and would obviously be weird if there is the same animation but different voice actors. So they figured, live action allows them to have well-known actors and increase the BO. They put in the Cartoony elements to connect it to the series.

The whole Honeymooners vibe wouldn't really work now, so it was the only thing from the cartoon to hold onto.

Halle Berry was smoking in this movie, I dont think she's looked better in many other films

I remember seeing this when I was four. And I hated it because it had Rosie O'Donnel as Betty, Betty is supposed to be pretty, not a giant beast.

I hate when they do that; You just can't combine universes and get away with it. Example: scooby cgi doo. Having the dog still be a cartoon defeats the purpose of making it live action in the first place doesn't it? Wouldn't have mattered though since those movies are crap except for Linda Cardellini's Velma and whoever that guy is who played shaggy being decent.

I love the flinstones movie though because of Rick and John being spot on perfect with their performances. And halle berry was in it.

Especially not a lesbo beast.

I saw this when it first came out. I was about 4. All I remember was I left my stuffed animal in the theater and had to go back to get it. Fortunately, that's all I remember from that night.

I remember the night I saw that movie because I got sick after from eating too much candy. :( I remember throwing up all over my aunts car.

That wasn't the candy, it was the film.

Halle Berry hasn't looked as good since this film though.

The movie actually wasn't bad IMO. I remember what surprised me the most when I saw it though was just how dark it was.

The biggest thing I remember about this movie was the fact that the Twin Peaks guy got buried under concrete. And I was like, 6 when this came out :(

Oh, yeah. I remember this film. Wasn't THAT bad.

At least they got a better looking Betty in the sequel Flinstones Viva Rock Vegas.

The Flintsones film wasn't bad. It was a good little movie...plus John Goodman was awesome in it! Rosie O'Donnel on the other hand should not have been in this movie.

thanks man, I know we talked a little bit about the Dodgers last year but maybe we shouldn't remember last year too much ;)

NOMAHHH!

When did this movie come out again

It's been so long ago. I saw this movie on tv , but even then i realized that this was in no way ever going to be as good as the cartoon.
It was meh to be back then and i probably will be either meh/suck for me now.

Still i have to admit , John Goodman as Fred was great casting.
