The Forever War (Ridley Scott)

Great, but I wish Scott would revisit Alien.

this is going to amazing, i wish he would put robin hood and any other bulls**t on hold and do this immediately.

:wow: This sounds awesome!

The painting for the cover looks exactly like James Franco. Hmmm...

I wish people would also consider the new Star Trek and Terminator flicks as serious science fiction movie's ...

Regardless... welcome back Mr. Scott...

I don't see Russell Crowe as Mandella. He's 44 now and could conceivably play somebody in his early 30's, but Mandella needs an actor who can conceivably play a guy in his 20's and age into his 30's as well as play a convincing masculine Corporal Hicks type rather than a 90210 Johnny Rico type.

IDK after Fox said no to their (Scott & Cameron) Alien 5. And after AVP they've both said the franchise is pretty much dead to them.

Thanks for the info:up:. :csad:

Is This The First Look At Ridley Scott's 3D Epic THE FOREVER WAR??

Jim here. This is potentially very exciting or very lame. Either way it is a nice piece of artwork I guess.

Quiet Earth claims they have some artwork from Steve Simmons (Artist on TIMELESS) that belongs to Ridley Scott's THE FOREVER WAR.

If you are unacquainted, here is the synopsis of Scott's planned stereoscopic 3D Sci-Fi epic: An elite task force returns home after a brief interstellar military operation, but discovers that 20 years have past and the planet they once knew is completely different. Based on Joe Haldeman's 1974 novel "The Forever War".

I would take a substantial grain of salt with this one for now as much as I would like to believe it. I will keep you updated!

I just dont believe they can really film it. The story is way too weird in some parts

all people gay and all this stuff, centuries passing...
.

It is not a joke, but you have to read the book to understand it :cwink:

I just cannot believe THAT would be put into a movie. It's too 70s. And actually not really convincing compared to studies we have to day about the subject.

I read the wiki page of forever war

My reaction instantly went from :lmao: to
Still stereotypical part of me gave a hilarious thought when i read this
Mandella, with soldier, lover and companion Marygay Potter, returns to civilian life, only to find humanity drastically changed. He and his fellow soldiers have difficulty fitting into a future society that has evolved almost beyond their comprehension. The veterans learn that to curb overpopulation, which led to worldwide food wars, homosexuality has become officially encouraged by the world government.

My ^^^reaction for this is a combination of "Dey tuk er jerbs" mixed with homer simpsons when he takes bart to the factory to see "what real men" do
:lmao:

Still all jokes aside i think Scott will focus more on the action aspect as well as the psychological effects of what happens when the soldiers find out that in their absence time has moved on drastically.

I hope his Alien film comes first. As far the subject matter in question, I just don't see a studio taking that kind of risk. Not saying they shouldn't just that they won't.

David Peoples Penned The Forever War Script

Source: Joe Halderman
August 4, 2010

Author Joe Halderman revealed on his Blog yesterday that the screenwriter of Ridley Scott-directed The Forever War "has good credits, like 'Unforgiven.'" That means David Peoples, who also penned Blade Runner and Twelve Monkeys, wrote the latest draft.

The 1974 book revolves around a soldier who battles an enemy in deep space for only a few months, only to return home to a planet he doesn't recognize some 20 years later.

"I first pursued 'Forever War' 25 years ago, and the book has only grown more timely and relevant since," Scott said a couple of years ago. "It's a science-fiction epic, a bit of 'The Odyssey' by way of 'Blade Runner,' built upon a brilliant, disorienting premise."

I hope Scott does this than another Alien movie.

Nah, this can wait. Alien needs a good film again, and who better to do it than Scott? With Lindelof rewriting the script, it bodes very well for it.

Out of all of the proposed Ridley Scott directed projects coming, this is the one I am most excited for. I would rather have Scott do The Forever War as his next film rather than the Alien prequel. We have seen Scott's vision of the Alien universe. I want to see him take on a new science fiction world (last time he did it he created one of the finest movies ever made in Blade Runner).

Lol, Marygay.

Only a hippie would come up with such a ridiculous name.

Hmm, my enthusiasm has dampened. Ridley is getting too old and by the time this film rolls around, I just don't know how he can cope with such a grand scale film. Neil Blomkamp should have a crack.

I don't want to be a cynic, but this sounds like a vaporware movie: a movie that people keep on talking about but nothing happens.

Examples: Sin City 2, The Vega Brothers.
