Cormac McCarthy's agents were expecting a new novel to be submitted from him in December, but were surprised when he showed up with a fully realized screenplay. His agents have been trying to get this film made as soon as possible ever since. It's being described as "No Country for Old Men on steroids [and] one of McCarthys most disturbing and powerful works."
As someone who loved the hell out of No Country (and most of McCarthy's previous novels), I greatly anticipated more news regarding this project. Then, Ridley Scott became attached as the director and I managed to become even more excited. And now, Michael Fassbender has been attached as the lead.

Really, really looking forward to this.
