why the hell isn't the name of this thread changed to "The Official Blu-Ray thread"? The war is over, man. it's over...

Well Ian at least you know what year the Spidey movies will get re-released on Blu-ray now. Spider-Man 4 on May 6, 2011.

lo. Man I HOPE it doesn't take that long.

But I'll wait that long if that's what it takes to get a passable release for those first 2 movies.

I'm with you man. I really really really wanna see Spidey 2 in HD.

Because there technically still is a war. Blu-ray vs. DVD.

I don't understand what you mean by passable. I mean I can't imagine them being new transfers when re-released the only different thing will probably be a special features disc added.

Yeah, I'm not understanding that...get the current trilogy and enjoy it for a couple of years and then get the super duper collector's addition.

I went into best buy today and saw they has a blu ray stand with a bunch of title on sale for $20 . There other places where you can get some of the title cheap but I thought it was funny Best Buy is finally coming around.

The last time I was in a store to buy a movie was in January at a Wal-Mart and their prices were ridiculous then. I hope they wised up by now.

You just answered your own question.

If I only wanted to see them in HD, I'd just record them on my DVR one of the millions of times they are played.

You won't get the lossless sound though and the picture quality is better on the Blu-ray release. I'm glad I don't care for special features, I wouldn't want to miss out on watching my favorite films on Blu-ray. :oldrazz:

Exactly. Watching the discs myself I really can't imagine someone getting the same quality from a DVR. Just wish Raimi would have kept the same damn aspect ratio for every movie...lol.

Monster's Inc and Rounders Delayed
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that they are delaying the upcoming Blu-ray releases of both 'Monster's Inc' and 'Rounders: 10th Anniversary Edition'. When asked for comment, studio representatives confirmed the delay of 'Rounders', but could provide no new release date. At time of press, they could not confirm the delay of 'Monster's Inc'.

Our good friend Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits got the inside scoop on a few upcoming titles Paramount is currently working for Blu-ray release (along with a few rumored release dates). First up is the Oscar-award winning 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' which is rumored to be released on May 5th (retailers were alerted to a pre-order last week), day-and-date with the DVD release. No other details are known at this time.

In July, you can expect to see 'Friday the 13th: Part 2' and 'Friday the 13th: Part III' to be released to coincide with the Blu-ray release of the 2009 remake of the original film.

In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Home Video has revealed that they will bring 'Gone With the Wind: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition' and 'The Wizard of Oz: 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition' to Blu-ray sometime this year. Technical specs have not been released at this time, though you can expect the typical 1080p VC-1 video and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks from the studio. No special features have been announced at this time.

As these are both "Ultimate Collector's Edition" releases, you can expect them to be part of a box set featuring collectibles associated with the release (similar to previous UCE Blu-ray releases). We'll have more info as it becomes available.

Well, it's only the first one that was shot in flat, the rest were done in scope. It's not that big of a deal to me, it would only be so if I had a Constant Height setup and then I'd complain...but I'd also have to complain about TDK too if I had that kind of setup. hehe.

Wish I had the cash, I'd go for that.

Yep I have never gotten into many TV shows but that looks like a very nice deal especially if you haven't bought any of the seasons yet. Basically a Buy 3 seasons, Get 1 season free deal.

Yeah, Lost is seriously the best show ever! It just hits all the right spots and has become an amazing show that always keeps you guessing.

I heard it started off good and became a mess towards the end like they didn't know where they were going with the plot.

I can't get lossless audio anyway, and my tv only goes to 720p/1080i, so the picture qualtiy would really be about the same, too.

SWEET! Thanks! I've already got S3 and S4, but I'll definitely save about $15 by canceling and rekeying my pre-order of S1 and S2. :)

You heard wrong.

Heck, we still have 1 1/2 seasons to go before the end, anyway!

This season is proving all of those "The writers don't know where they're going!" people dead wrong. :)

Yeah, he definitely heard wrong. The only thing that can be said is that it kind of got bogged down in the middle with Season 3 a bit, but then went right back on the road it's going in. This has to be one of the best thought out shows I've seen and I hope I can say that when the show ends as well.
