Decided to go ahead and do the WB upgrades. Batman Begins, Blood Diamond, Constantine, The Departed, Happy Feet, The Last Samurai, Superman Returns, Troy Director's Cut, Unforgiven, and The Matrix Collection (for which mine will be upgraded to the Ultimate Matrix Collection).

I wouldn't mind Universal doing this. Now I have to try to sell those HD DVD's with no covers...lol...or just keep them as backups.

How many more HD DVD's do you actually have?

It's too bad my copy of 300 had to be the freebie version with no UPC...I would have liked to get that one on Blu.

Well WB is planning on releasing a collector's edition of 300 eventually I think its gonna be one of those big box releases though.

I see well with some of the Paramount HD DVD's they are offering that $10 rebate for rebuying certain movies on Blu-ray.

Got a link, for Paramount I'm not too eager to replace them...maybe just Transformers.

With Universal, I definitely wouldn't mind considering the upgraded sound quality on most of their discs.

Well I mean just keep your eye out because I have seen those Paramount titles go down to $15. And Transformers the only reason I got it was because it was $9.99 last Black Friday so anybody who picked it up at that price and got the rebate basically got the Blu-ray for free and kept their HD DVD version. I have heard people having issues with the rebate service a while back but hopefully that is all straightened out by now. And remember those rebates do have an expiration date.

How do you disable the BD-Live feature on the PS3?

I gave in & got the X-Men Blu-Ray set. Is the cut of X-Men on the Blu-Ray supposed to be the branching/extended version of the movie? I haven't had time to sit down & actually compare it with the dvd version of the movie.

If you're planning on picking up Transformers, I would wait. A new edition is expected either this summer or when TF2 comes out on BD/DVD.

Don't know what you would be waiting for. More special features? The actual disc quality can't be improved its practically flawless.

I don't know about extras, it is supposed to be an "extended cut". I mean why bother if there is a double dip coming? And picture quality is not the only thing that should be taken into account when buying a movie...

Why bother if there is a double dip coming? Simple. The double dip just might not be worth it. Of course picture quality shouldn't be the only thing to take into account but usually its the main thing along with the audio. A double dip is also usually good for driving down the price of the first release so it all depends if it is worth it. People were excited that The Terminator was announced for a double dip but it ended up being it was going to be the same disc just a new slipcover.

Well, obviously that isn't worth it, but that doesn't mean that this won't be.

The Transformers Blu-ray that's out now is fine. The movie doesn't need to be extended, and the features are plentiful.

I'll probably just wait and get the extended cut since I don't have Transformers on Blu-ray. I'll probably eventually continue to replace my HD-DVD's if I can find really good prices and then sell my players/movies down the line. I just wish Universal would do what WB is doing. Considering most of their films have DTS-MA, I wouldn't mind upgrading.

I actually took the bait and am going to take complete advantage of the WB offer. Only titles I can but won't be doing this with will be "Return to House on Haunted Hill" (not worth it) and "Casablanca" (don't want the different casing).

Do the X-men BDs come with a Wolverine ticket?

Amazon is running that special if you buy the trilogy you get a free ticket. They didn't give me it though because I pre-ordered it. Yeah...you read that right. :cmad:
