Wal-Mart to Expand Blu-ray Players and Movies
According to the Wall Street Journal, Wal-Mart is going to broaden its offer of Blu-ray disc players and movies this week, as part of a general revamping of the electronics departments in its more than 3,500 U.S. stores, within a new strategy which involves selling top brands at lower prices than rivals offer.

The world's largest retailer by revenue is in a fierce battle with Best Buy and Amazon to attract former Circuit City customers, which were expected to gravitate towards Best Buy, but are proving to be evenly split among the three retailers.

As we reported ten days ago, Wal-Mart recently overtook Amazon for second place in the top Blu-ray retailer rankings, with a 20%-30% market share.

That is a cool design for the cover . Not something i expected but good.

Yeah I dunno I usually am not a cover freak at all but I think these studios are trying too hard. A simple movie poster would be perfect most of the time.

Blasphemy?!?! :cmad: Well its not exactly a movie for everyone I guess. I thought it was a beautiful film. Maybe you will rewatch later on and appreciate it more.

Meh, I don't think I will watch it again unless I'm forced to. It's definitely not Fincher's best work and no where near as good as Zodiac, Fincher's last effort. It just seemed too much like Forrest Gump, which that film did it better. lol. And yes, I know the screenwriter wrote FG as well, but still, this movie just moved at a slow pace and does not hold much repeat value from me. I'd give it a 6.5/10, nothing special and just ok.

Amazon just shipped me
Bloody Valentine 3D
Batman '89
Taken
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

Amazon seems to be the cheapest place to buy Blu's anymore. Wally-World wanted $30 a peice for underworld and taken.

Has the Army Of Darkness Blu-Ray release date been changed or something because it was supposed to have come out today.

Lionsgate Blu-ray Catalog Wave for August
In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate Home Entertainment has revealed that it will bring five titles from its catalog to Blu-ray Disc on August 11: 'Chaos', 'Cutthroat Island', 'The Ninth Gate', 'Replicant', and 'See No Evil'. No audio or video specifications are available at this time.

Don't much care for any of those, especially The Ninth Gate, which is god awful

Well 90% of what Lionsgate has to offer consists of horror, guilty pleasures, or straight to dvd quality movies.

I just ordered Terminator 2 Skynet Edition and A Bug's Life off Amazon last night.

Watchmen Arriving Also As Movie/PS3 Game Combo
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that its upcoming PS3 game 'Watchmen: The End is Nigh', based on the 'Watchmen' film, will be released in July 2009 in a game/film hybrid that will include the 'Watchmen: Director's Cut' BD. This two-disc collectible set will feature exclusive artwork in a premium package.

The game will also be released in the more traditional retail and downloadable formats.

'Watchmen: The End is Nigh' is a hardcore mature action brawler featuring bloody visceral combat in settings which are reminiscent of the film. It is divided in two parts. Part 1 (released in March 2009 on the PlayStation Network) takes place more than a decade before the film's main story, delving into the partnership of urban vigilantes Rorschach and Nite Owl before the hero-banning Keene Act. In Part 2, the duo team up again as Rorschach contacts Nite Owl to help solve the case of a missing girl, Violet Greene.

I don't even like Watchmen and the demo for that game was even worse than I thought.

And just heads up. It looks like there is a very good possibility Sony will be dropping Dolby TrueHD and transitioning over to DTS-HDMA if anyone cares.

Hmm..well I think I've had better results with DTS-HDMA mixes than Dolby TrueHD in general

Also newly announced for Blu-ray release by Fox/MGM are Lie to Me: Season 1 on 8/25, The Girl Next Door: Unrated and High Crimes on 9/1, and Misery (BD/DVD Combo), Child's Play (BD/DVD Combo) and the Hannibal Lecter Blu-ray Anthology (includes Manhunter, The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal) on 9/15.
