I know that Michael Jackson liked The Beatles very much. But was it the only reason he asked Paul McCartney to sing with him?
Or did the nationality have something to do with it, one from U.S. and one from UK?

Imagine that Elvis had still been alive back in 1983, and in good shape again. Do you think Michael would've offered him the job him instead?
 
The style is typical 80s pop ballad. It's a bummer that Cliff Richard wasn't offered the job. His smooth voice would have been perfect next to Michael's.

And Michael defecated on the Beatles legacy by snatching the rights to their music away from Paul McCartney and letting it be used in spectacularly tacky ways. I don't think Paul ever forgave him for that.
