The Beatles: Rock Band

Just say you went to Sears and they were selling it.

Guys, forget Beatles Rock Band, I have BIG news...

I just preordered it. 17 vocalists on Wild Honey Pie FTW.

Okay Joker, after consideration, I'm starting to agree with you on "Hey Jude". Sure, while I may have fun singing it in the car, I could see where it could get tedious for the vocal part while playing Rock Band. And yeah, the instrumental parts would get boring too.

Having said that, I did notice one glaring omission from the game a few days ago. How could they not include "She Loves You"?

Basically, if you don't already have RB instruments and don't want to get the Limited Edition, you can get this. It will probably have the RB2 Stratocaster and RB2 drums. Good deal since the sets for RB2 were around $190 last year.

Here's some bad news. The Value Edition I mentioned in this post is going to include Rock Band 1 instruments, not RB2. So you're better off buying Rock Band 2 bundle ($100 now) and the Beatles game separate. It'll be around the price of the Value edition but you get 2 games and much better instruments.

Whatever the explanation behind this hike, the price at £180 is plain ridiculous: so it’s no wonder there’s also a ‘Special Value Edition’, containing Rock Band 1’s instruments

I think it's safe to say that this game lives up to the hype. I've only done some of the vocal stuff so far, but I'm loving it.

Bob and Tom were interviewing someone at Harmonix this morning about Beatles RB.

I was a bit surprised at that, as the only other time they went into gaming talk was a few years ago when they had someone from Nintendo on about the Wii.

Could someone give me the Cliff Note version of what The Beatles did for...well...music in general. I've never been a major fan of the Beatles, but I like a bunch of their songs and I'm really excited to get home and play this game. I wanted to be a bit more educated about the Beatles as I'm pretty sure I'll become a larger fan of them after playing the game. I know a few things they did for music...but I know they were the first to do A LOT of things and I've always been curious...and I know there are people on here who can give me a list of the top of their head...and I'm way too lazy to do a bunch of research on it myself...plus, I'm at work. lol, thanks in advance.

I plan on waiting for a sale to pick this up since I've become more cheap with games. I've been listening to some of the songs in the game today and it's making me want it now :(

They played "I Saw Her Standing There" on the radio yesterday and I had Beatles songs playing in my head for like 2 hours afterward.

So far today I've listened to The Beatles 1, Sargeant Pepper, and Revolver. I'm starting to find that I like the Beatles a lot more than I originally thought. I'm getting the bundle after work today (a birthday gift from my folks...there's no way I'd buy that on my own). I'll give a review about the quality of the instruments later...since it's been established that the game rocks :D

I've been drumming for the past two hours. I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON ME FINGERS!

Ok...so the instruments that come with the bundle are great. The guitar definitely has a different feel from the usual Rock band guitar mainly due to it's longer neck. The drums are the same as the RB2 drums except for a few color changes here and there...though the drum pads do seem to absorb hits better (or maybe it's just me). The mic stand is also awesome! It's nice to have while playing drums or guitar and singing harmonies while someone sings using another mic.
Overall, the drums and guitar appear to be better quality (drums only slightly..if at all) than the stock RB2 instruments...however, the mic is the exact same.

I picked up the game, the Gretsch, and the Rickenbacker today, and have been playing pretty much all day. Me and a friend went through all of story mode in one go, and then I've just been working on achievements. While it's a lot easier to pass songs on expert, and even 5 star them, it's a lot harder to get gold stars. You have to get 100% on a lot of the songs, or use some crazy optimal path chicanery to do it. I love the game though, it's fantastic.

The instruments are sweet as hell too. They've made it so the Guide button and Start button need to be held down for a second before they register, so you don't accidentally pause the game while trying to activate star power, or just cause you're clumsy. The buttons and strum bar are both quieter too, and the buttons also seem to not need as much force on them to register, which is nice.

If anyone wants to play over the weekend, add me to your friend list, my Gamertag is in my signature.

Man I was worried that this just could've been a quick cash in on the Album's re-release but I think having Apple working so closely really steered this right. I love this game, While there are a few songs missing (Seriously...No "Help!"???) I know eventually most of our favorites will be DLC, but mostly I love the chatter in studio and the unlockable stuff. The "First U.S. Visit Outtake" was great.

Is the star power now a button like the WT guitar?

To make it simple. Put on the radio at any point in the day, and any song that you hear be it rock, R&B, hip hop, etc. can trace it's roots in what the Beatles did.

Now also consider that their entire vast anthology of music was all written, produced, and recorded in what was basically under a decade. These guys would put out 2-3 albums a year. So not only were they making legendary music, but they were pumping it out at an unbelievable pace because the demand for it was just ridiculous. Even their 'filler" songs that the studfio made them do to fill out albums turned into gigantic hits. Every thing they touched turned to freaking gold.

John, Paul, and George were all amazing songwriters too. Ringo wasn't bad, although he wrote really weird songs.

yeah pretty much all of them could've fronted their own bands (and some later did). Poor George Harrison, who was an unbelievable songwriter and musician, barely got to write anything because Lennon and McCartney were just so mind-blowingly awesome.

Star Power (or Beatlemania as it's called here) has been activated by the select button since Guitar Hero 1. It was not a new innovation of WT. In fact, the first guitar to put it in a convenient place to really use as a button was RB1.

I paused the game a few times in RB1 trying to activate my Star Power because my friend's guitar couldn't sense the movement to activate Star Power after a while. It's good that they've fixed it so you have to hold Start down a bit to pause.

Hmm, never knew that. I've been tilting the whole time except when I used the WT guitar. Was annoying until I was able to tilt and not mess up my streak.

But the stuff he did write was great. This game has really helped me appreciate the genius of George Harrison. I never realized how beautiful "I Me Mine" was until now.

Has anyone failed a song? I can't imagine the crowd booing The Beatles.

No doubt

Has anyone failed a song? I can't imagine the crowd booing The Beatles.

Go watch video of the concert right after Lennon said they were "bigger than Jesus"
