I don't care what anyone says...the 360 version of this baby looks badass.

Like a classy, brutal version of GTA.
And before you start to talk **** about the Xbox version, you should know that it has a very decent 78% over at GameRankings.

Game Features:

Welcome to the Corleone Family...
After a life of small-time jobs and petty theft, you've been accepted into America's most famous criminal organization. Now it's up to you to carry out orders, earn respect, rise through the ranks, and make New York City your own. Play your cards right and you could even be running everything as the next -- and most powerful -- Don.

A story about family, respect and loyalty, The Godfather™ novel by Mario Puzo and film by Paramount Pictures serve as inspiration for the game. Join the Corleone Family and earn respect through loyalty and fear, then work your way up to becoming Don in a living, 1945-1955 New York. The Godfather The Game puts you at the center of action in one of history's most revered cinematic masterpieces, allowing you to create yourself in the game, and then choose your path as you rise from lowly outsider to envied and feared Don.

Featuring non-linear action-adventure gameplay, The Godfather The Game offer you countless choices for solving the Family's problems with brutal violence, skillful diplomacy, or a cunning mix of both. From mob hits and bank heists to drive-bys and extortion, step deep inside the world of The Godfather -- where intimidation and negotiation are your tickets to the top. Use your powers of loyalty and fear to earn respect through interactions with characters in the world. The decisions you make have lasting consequences, just as it was in the mob underworld featured in The Godfather books and films.

The Godfather film from Paramount Pictures featured some of Hollywood's finest actors, and several have contributed to the game's development. All character likenesses from the movie are included, and lending their voices to add a dramatic and cinematic touch are the late Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone, James Caan as Sonny Corleone, and Robert Duvall as consigliere Tom Hagen.

- The World of The Godfather
Experience a decade of violence in New York City from 1945-55.

- Classic Film Moments
Non-linear action adventure gameplay with missions directly from the film plus original missions with characters from the fiction provide a new experience for all types of gamers.

- Put Yourself in The Godfather
Create your own mobster and put yourself in the action of The Godfather.

- Respect and Consequences
Use your powers of loyalty and fear to earn respect throughout New York City. The decisions you make will have lasting consequences.

- Persistent World
Your character interacts freely with other characters in the world. Depending on your needs and how you choose to play--through violence and intimidation or respect and negotiation -- the characters remember your interactions with them. This in turn affects the outcome of the game.

- Compete for New York
Your attempt to control the Corleone Family and all of New York will be challenged by the other four Families from the fiction: Tattaglia, Cuneo, Barzini, and Stracci.

- Improved Extortion
New updates and improved merchant animations and responses add even more depth to the Extortion system. There are now more destructible objects in shops to smash and even throw to apply pressure. You can also look to exploit more weaknesses--for example, fear will increase in certain merchants when you’re backed by extra muscle, so bring along a crew member into their racket or shop to earn that Weak Spot bonus.

- Tougher Racket Trucks
If you see a box truck on the streets, take aim at it with your firearm or try ramming it with your vehicle to stop it so you can retrieve the goods. But be cautious--these trucks are often heavily defended and the occupants won’t take kindly to you trying to steal their stuff. If you manage to interrogate the truck driver, he’ll give you the keys to the vehicle so you can return it to a Corleone location where you can bank the cargo. Take too long and the controlling Family will send vehicle chasers to take you down.

- New Xbox Live Features
Many new features have been added to keep things fresh and interesting, including new rap sheet stats that track your performance, new Xbox Live achievements and a new Top Don ranking--see how you rank against all players worldwide!

- Improved Mob Wars
The Godfather The Game for Xbox 360 puts the “war” in “mob warfare.” Warring mobsters hunt you down with brutal drive-bys and even set up roadblocks to try to take you out. Bomber specialists are also sent to bomb any and all businesses in your control.

- Keeping it Real
Mark Winegardner, author of the novel The Godfather Returns, provided story editing and fiction insight.

The 360 version will have more stuff, including:

BlackHand Control

Next Gen BlackHand Control for the Xbox 360 will enable you to truly master the art of intimidation through more powerful hand-to-hand combat and a greater array of ways to deliver on your threats. With more analog control at your fingertips, you’re able to feel the power with every thumbstick input. All directions on the thumbstick now unleash a unique attack in that direction allowing you to effectively create your own fighting style, customize your own combos and unleash heavier attacks. Intelligent execution of these attacks can deliver a “stunning blow” to your opponents - sending them straight to their knees or flailing into a stumble. As you increase your Fighting skill, you increase your ability and probability of landing these incapacitating attacks.

We've exponentially increased your opportunities for intimidation by adding many new destructible objects, more melee weapons (including throwable items), and we’ve expanded the ever-popular and crowd pleasing Execution Styles list to almost 50 executions. To better measure the power of your increasing pressure, you'll notice persistent facial bruising and hear many more comments from your victims as you search for their weak spots in order to maximize the payout from your extorted businesses. With so many new weapons at your disposal (including our personal favorite – the burning 2x4 that allows you to perform the all new Sicilian Candle execution…) you'll soon be making offers no one can refuse!

Mobface

New to the Xbox 360 version of the game, you can now access in-game tailor shops to buy apparel and accessories and visit barbers to change your hair style or get a shave. Purchase new items as you progress through the game, with ramifications for your mobster’s respect level. Preview items before you buy so you have the info necessary to make the right purchases. After all, if you want to be Don of all Dons, you gotta dress the part.
Crew

Why fight alone? All-new to The Godfather The Game Xbox 360 experience, you can now hire and work with your own crewmember. Upon reaching enforcer rank you can hire an armed mobster to flank your side during battle or provide drive-by fire while accompanying you in a vehicle. They don’t come cheap, but they can mean the difference between success and failure when you’re trying to gain access to a venue or racket. As you ascend in rank you can hire a stronger crew for even tougher jobs.
Favors

From time to time, someone may call upon you for a favor. This may be a member of the Corleone Family or a person you do business with. The favor giver will ask you to help them with a dilemma, it's up to you to determine how much force is needed to resolve the problem... Doing favors is a great way to earn respect, help your allies, and ensure you're building up goodwill for the Corleones.. Completing certain favors may even unlock additional content!

This is the only video you need to see, it has the trailer then a lot of gameplay. Watch it.
Seriously.

So yeah, I am VERY excited, there is no way I am missing this.
It looks fun as hell, and very faithful to its cinema/book counterparts.

It doesn't look exactly next gen, but it looks MUCH better than the last gen version, and while it lacks any "Saint's Row" style ragdoll physics, the car handling looks much better (some kind of Need for Speed engine, I'm sure) and the fist and gun fighting both look AWESOME.

There's no "gangstas" here, only mean, classy Gangsters :cmad:

Buy it.

Edit:

Here's a preview/interview that talks about more of the 360-only features:

Gammy, I promise you, I will be buying this when I have the chance. It looks pretty sweet, I love the time setting and how it's a "classic" gangster style. :word: Should be great.

But why do I have to play the game, when I have a copy of the book and the Godfather trilogy on DVD?:csad:

You don't have to but gammy speaks the truth...it's a good game (though the cars and everything in saints row is generally better....but thats an excellent game so its nothing to be ashamed of).

It basically lets YOU play a role in the film trilogy, and the game play and graphics are solid as (I wasn't even a fan of the movies/books and whatnot).

I have the ps2 version so I wont pick this up, but if you haven't checked it out yet, it's definitly worth it.

it feels more like a 1.5 version....

i don't see it tempting people to buy it that already have it for like the playstation or xbox

That right there doesn't interest me in the least.

Speaking of SR, I hope they have smallville skins, the only time superman and his supporting cast have been remotely interesting (smallvile lex and lois rock!)

I might try this, looks like it will be worth a rent at least. Now SR will rule your ass!

7.9 at IGN.
Seems low, but it's mostly because of the graphics...while it looks better, it still is a shinier, glossier version of the last-gen versions.

Gameplay? That's where it's at!

8.0 Presentation
The opening scenes are some of the game's best, but it careens downhill from there. The 360 version explains the game's systems better than before.

6.5 Graphics
Like the Bond games, EA's artists did an excellent job on a few of the key actors' faces. Explosions and fire are exceptionally well done in this version, but it still looks like a current-gen upgrade

7.0 Sound
The Godfather theme song works beautifully. It's just good. The added music is very canned and sounds a little like Bond music. The major stars' voice-acting is top-notch, from Brando on down.

8.0 Gameplay
The engaging "Respect" system and RPG-light elements work right. The working mechanics have trouble spots and the take-over business is addicting as hell. The newly added Crew element is a big help.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
This offline, single-player game took me 30 hours to beat, and I hadn't taken over the whole city. With the newly added missions it's still a 40-50 hour game.

is it the same thing as the other godfather game or what?

I don't have enough moneys. :( I think my luck is running out. The next game I'm gonna get is Splinter Cell DA probably. Not including Doom on XBL Arcade.

I rented it and I thought it was amazing! I never played the current gen version....this was great....heh, and the business "taking over" side missions were the best part...the story missions are really trial-and-error....it took me a long time to complete the story
