So I got this idea for a thread and ran it by Hunter before I posted it.

With all the future releases being announced, this forum gets filled up real quick. There's a new film thread being made everyday.

But sadly, when we think of some of our older movies we love, we make a thread that quickly get lost in the shuffle. So we came up with starting this thread.

It's simple, pick a movie you're either thinking about, watching, or just want to talk about, and bring up in here. We can have discussions about it, or if it's not that popular, simply move on to the next film.

This doesn't mean no more "single" movie threads, this is just something to compact it a bit, so we don't lose track of our favorites.

I'll leave it up to you guys to start it off. And I really hope you guys like this idea, I was thinking of you guys as well when I brought this up to Hunter.

Begin!:woot:

The Fugitive is a long time favourite of mine, a great chase thriller with 2 superb lead performances and plenty of thrills and spills. Harrison Ford is at his nervy best as Dr. Richard Kimble, and Tommy Lee Jones is on form as the ultra confident, bravado spouting US Marshal Sam Gerard. No matter how many times i see it i get sucked into Kimble's journey and the story.

There are some decent action moments in there and i think the spectacular stunt with the train hitting the prisoners bus was at the time, the first million dollar stunt.

I can still watch that movie at least once a week. It's an instant classic and kudos to both Ford and Jones for their performances. TLJ won a supporting role Oscar for the movie.

The train shot still holds up to this day. I remember being blown away when I saw in the trailer for the first time.

I bought the SE DvD and learned some really interesting things from it.

While filming, the script wasn't even finished, and they were still trying to figure out the tie-in of who killed his wife.

At one point, they wanted Sam Gerard to be the killer, so it would be more dynamic for the chase, they quickly debunked that idea.

Great choice for a first flick in the new thread Hunter.:woot::cwink:

I watch back to the futuertrilogy. my favorite is back to the futuer part 2. I also been watching 3 ninjas trilogy.. its about these kids training to be ninjas. its not a kidflime . they had three of them.

The Back to the Future movies were classic/

I saw that movie Toys starring Robin Williams in the bargain bin for 5.98 . I actually liked that movie when i was a kid but dont know if it would hold up well today . I guess only one way to find out .

Fight Club is one of my favs, just finished watching it, bet you couldn't have guessed it though.

Happy Feet - haven't watched it in a while though, might watch it tonight.

Oh, and blog.

Heh, I actually enjoy that movie too. I loved how LL Cool J kept popping up all the time with his different camoflague on. Not a bad movie.

So I got a new one to talk about ............

HARD RAIN- Starrring Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Minnie Driver.

It's well, about Hard rain. Originally supposed to be entitled the Flood. It was changed to sound less like a disater film.

The rain shuts down a town that Morgan Freeman and some goons are trying to rob. And only Christian Slater can stop them...if the rain doesn't kill them first...:o

I know there's much better movies out there, but Ghostbusters is without question my most favorite movie of all time. I don't think there's any other movie that keeps me with a smile plastered on my face from start to finish.

Ghostbusters came out the same year I was born, but due to the cartoon show, I discovered the movie very early on in life. It really was the first thing I was ever a fan of.

Ahh Ghostbusters. Those movies are GEMS if you ask me. I grew up on those movies, cartoons and toys. There was something so awesome about Slimer when i was a kid.

Newest Movie

Deep Impact- "Oceans Rise, Cities Fall, Hope Survives.
Release Date-5/9/98
Cast: Morgan Freeman, Elijah Wood, LeLee Sobieski, Tea Leoni, Jon Faverau.

Just watched this the other night for the first time in a few years. Considering it was a Summer movie, there was alot more emotion than it's predecessor "Armageddon".

It really put a realistic touch on the scenario, no matter what, the asteroid was going to hit Earth. And the ending with the wave was really good CGI back in 98. I never really noticed that it completely overtook New York. There are some scenes in that movie that just make you want to squirt out a tear or two. Director Mimi Leder knew how to make it sad, yet keep you on your toes with excitment. I don't know if she's done a film since then. Her other big movie before that was "The Peacekeeper" with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman.

Anyone else enjoy this movie? Did you like it more than Armegeddon? Was it more of a tear jerker for you?

Thank god they didn't go with that idea, the thing that makes the Gerard/Kimble relationship work so well in the film is the growing respect as the case goes along, the other way would have been so cliche'.

I really like Hard Rain, one of the unsung action flicks of the 90's, I watched it last week and wrote this review. :yay:

I preferred Armageddon, It had Bayhem and Bruce Willis. :D Mimi Leder did a good job though and i liked Peacemaker a lot, she seems to have been absent for some time but has a movie coming up called 'The Hurt Locker'.

I completely agree with the whole Kimble/Gerard relationship. You kinda knew that they were going to respect each other more as the chase went on and the clues were coming in. I couldn't see Gerards character as a killer anyway, he was too much into his job to go against the law. But at the time they were even considering making him the man, the script wasn't even done. It actually would have been a slap in the face to the old show.

Hard Rain holds a spot in my heart too. I mean come on, watching it for Morgan Freeman is enough for me. It's not like the premise was a horrible idea, a robbery during a flood-ridden town. Not really one you see too often. But as most people I talk to say...the title screams out "B movie cheesy". I guess you have to watch the movie and forget the title to appreciate it.

Although both movies have the same synopsis, they are very much different. One is geared towards action all the way ("What are you doing with a gun in space?") And the other is more for the family, or a good date movie. It had characters, real emotion, and devasting destruction.:csad:

heh..the Original StarWars Trilogy.. :)
I think my favorite movie as a child was probably Aladdin though.

My favorite movie now is probably Se7en though..great mystery movie, with great actors and of course David Fincher directing.

I've been watching the "Lord of the Rings" Extended Editions again recently, and listened to the "Return of the King" commentary by Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens & Fran Walsh. It was very informative; Peter said he'd become so immersed in the films, he couldn't remember every instance that was different from something in the books.

I feel the same way about it, although my main reference is the debate of "theatrical vs. extended". I never saw the theatrical "Return of the King" in a theater, just once on DVD...but in my opinion, the Extended Editions are better by far.

I also found out that Liv Tyler has a song in the Houses of Healing for the third Extended Cut. Cool, huh?

Last Sunday was the first time I had ever seen the Original Star Wars. I'm a little behind in pop culture I think.:csad:

Se7en is great flick. Hands down one of David Finchers best, followed by Zodiac. Kevin Spacey was soo terrifying in that movie, he completely pulled that role off.

I was shocked on my first viewing of it when I realized it was Gwenths head in the box....so sad.

Three of my favorite which are semi-different are
Die hard with a vengeance
The Mask
Mystery men

Chariots of Fire

Man, this movie was awesome. It was like Cool Runnings, except without all the Jamacians and bobslaying. And John Candy. And Canada. Actually it's nothing like it...
It still has an awesome soundtrack by Vangelis.

Catch Me If You Can.

God, I love this film. It's truly one of, in my opinion, Spielberg's absolute best. Leonardo DiCaprio really shined in the role.

The Pirates Trilogy

My favorite of the newer film releases. The second and third get a lot of flak for an overly complicated plot, or lack thereof. To me it seems fairly simple, plus I really like all the seafaring mythology incorporated into the trilogy.

The Thing (John Carpenter remake)

My favorite "oldie." The story brings some very tense moments and the creature effects look very genuine and delightfully disgusting.

Back to the Future

These movies are just plain fun, plus the DT books have given me a new appreciation for the old west setting of the third movie.

Come on guys, I know you have more movies in you. Reach deep in your head and think of your favorite movie as a kid...ones you watched over and over again.:woot:

When I was 5. I LOVED "Silver Bullet" it was the only werewolf movie that freaked me out.:csad:

I watched Gremlins again today. Still one of my all-time favorites.

Aside from Ghostbusters, the first Batman was really magical for me. I was 4, it was the first movie I ever saw in the theater, and before seeing it, I had zero interest in superheroes (quite the opposite...I thought they were stupid and that they wore their underwear on the outside of their pants). I walked out of that theater forever changed :)

Mighty Ducks 3, The whole series but that one in perticular because I had it on VHS, and Ace Ventura: The first and second even though the first was better.

I watched this one again today too (Home sick from work :oldrazz:). I had only seen it once, when I was about 7 or 8 (1988-ish). I saw it and the 2nd one in a bargain bin for six bucks each. I found this go-around so much more entertaining, and was far more interested (and observant of) in the pop-culture references and parodying for suburban cliches. Plus, it's hard not to be wowed by the theatre scene and pub scene. Such brilliant puppetry work, and so amazing to watch. Nowadays it would all be so CG and so much less real and interesting. I've never seen the second film, so will be watching it tomorrow.
